TurboTax's state edition for CT is not working. Keeps saying now for 2 weeks that TurboTax will update will have correct forms available soon. Yesterday I e-filed fed return via TurboTax but cannot file CT...it and WHAT'S WORSE, TurboTax will not allow me to capture and print the CT return (it's got all the data in there) ...there's an onscreen version that says DO NOT FILE - FORMS NOT COMPLETE.

TT remains powerful and, relatively easy to use, but it's taken some steps back this year. Handling of tax-exempt income has become more tedious and difficult, especially when you have dozens of states involved. There are no running totals to ensure your individual state entries add up to the required total amount. Worse, the TT makes addition errors making it impossible to complete your entries without "adjusting" entries (verified by using a spreadsheet to manage the state entries). The It's Deductible tool has similar issues with ease-of-use, make entries slower than they need to be. There's no visible "tree" to help you navigate around the various categories, and no easy way to return to the "top" after you've drilled down into a category.

There was apparently a programming (?) problem. Turbotax said we are not qualified for foreign tax credit (!) but we knew we are clearly qualified. We decided to work manually on Form 1116 and found out that the foreign taxes paid were already accounted for. We gave five stars because we ended up filing successfully and could reach to Turbotax for help.

I have used Turbo Gas for ten years and have been happy with them in the past. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 this year is because at the end of my filing there was a hidden $40 processing fee to have Turbo tax send my Federal refund to be direct deposited to my checking account. I could not find an option given to NOT use their 3rd party to do the deposit to my account. I have never been charged this fee in the past. I called Customer service and then the Resolution desk. Neither person could figure out why I was being charged. They said it's what Turbo Tax charges to direct deposit the refund even though their web site says there is no fee for Direct Deposit for Federal Tax refund.

I've been using TurboTax since the late 1980s. During all those years, I've only had one IRS request for additional information, which was my oversight not TurboTax. I've utilized their tax advice service several times, which was spot on. I like the options for interview or self-directed. I highly recommend TurboTax.

Everything went well until I went to transmit my return. Turbotax kept crashing over and over when doing this. I have an air Mac with M1 chip. It wouldn't go through until I unselected Audit Protection. Also a little pushy with the paying for an adviser. Kept popping up kind of annoying. The worst was when I didn't pay for that service yet and changed my mind. I could not close the pop up window and ended up having to start entirely over with my taxes.

Big disappointment as the import function did not work regardless of troubleshooting or support. The program did not recognize I was online even when I was online. This created a big inconvenience and meant I had to enter my information manually. I am now considering an alternative for next tax season after using TurboTax for over 15 years.

Would like to see more help on stock sales that do not have a cost bases ( non covered) provided. Maybe some kind of link to historical sales to a third part provider. I know it would require a lot of data, that is why I am suggesting a third party.

I used to like Turbotax more. Maybe my taxes are getting harder, or the results less palatable. It works and I have yet to be audited. I would say too much "sales" about advice without efforts to build that advice into the tool? I will buy it next year too!

I've used Turbo Tax for many years. I use the Premier version so I can import the 1099-Int, 1099-Div, and 1099-B details into my tax return. That saves a lot of time. There were a few items that I needed to research or figure out how to enter in the Turbo Tax step-by-step entry, but I was able to do that. It's helpful to be able to switch from step-by-step view and Forms view. It's helpful to be able to look at the tax forms to see where a value was calculated. I'm happy that I can download the software onto my PC using Windows 11, and work on my PC rather than on the internet. I feel confident in the calculations and that the final return is accurate.
