I had to pay a penalty Turbo didn't tell me about.

I have used Turbo Tax for years without a problem. I just discovered that I owe a penalty for not paying enough taxes throughout the year. I received no popup warning of this penalty. I find this unacceptable. How hard is it to program in a popup warning that a number has been inserted in to a box? As a retiree on Social Security, I feel any hit to my income. In looking back over my prior tax returns I find that I have had to pay this penalty for 5 years. I plan to use a different program next year. For the price I pay for Turbo Tax I feel that a red flag popup about a penalty, for whatever reason, should be something that the program would provide.

2024 version is Buggy!

This year the software is a lot more buggy. For example: 1. I could not import my W2 because the fields did not register space and special characters 2. It did not include my mortgage interest deduction until I completely delete and re-enter the form again

Why no DVD? Where's the Constant Update?

Other than the challenge of getting access, paying for the program, Premier worked great. I DO NOT like the Download-ONLY access to Premier. I prefer a DVD, with continuous UP-DATING, to alleve my concerns about latest Tax Code updates. NOT ONCE did the Premier download ever tell me that it was going back to look for the latest updates in the Tax Code. That was something that the DVD ALWAYS did every-time that I opened it to work on my taxes. Not a happy guy.

TT GONE DOWNHILL!

I used to love your service, now I hate it. There is so much now that has to still be entered by hand. I will be searching for another tax preparation software next year. I understood I was getting 5 federal efiles--I guess you've taken that away, too. I started to file, and was going to be charged $40 for "processing". FORGET IT!

The best option around, and still terrible

It's absurdly slow, it's buggy, it crashes, the updates take forever. State returns in particular are poorly implemented. A lot of the imports are broken (Schwab and Intuit have been having a stupid slap-fight and blaming each other for a decade now). It constantly tries to upsell you on premium features or services like "audit defense" that you probably don't need. BUT. It's still miles better than any of the competition - taxact, freetaxusa, etc, they're all just abominable in comparison.

TurboTax 2019 Unable to be Activated

It's nonsense that Turbotax 2019 is no longer available to be activated. It's available on the Intuit website, the license code is available, but it's not possible to activate. The official message from Intuit is that it's "no longer supported". However, Intuit makes available and does support 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Even though licenses for 2020 have "expired", the TurboTax software is still able to be activated. Additionally, in the fine print of the license agreement, it never states that the software will not be able to be used. This is a technical issue that Intuit is not recognizing that it needs to address with either a patch or a technical solution. Please Address!!

More difficult

For some reason this 2024 IRS filing season seems much more difficult. In the past it has been much easier to prepare the return and everything seemed to have an exact location. This time it has been much more difficult to get the numbers in the correct place. But I tried!

Major software bugs this year related to IRAs

Worse year ever using TurboTax. The questions and forms are constantly getting messed up. I had to go into the forms and manually update them to correct the errors. What is the point of using a tax software if i end up reading the forms and doing it manually.

Difficult to just print and Mail a State return

The program overall lets you do everything, but often is not clear on more advanced issues like investments. The final instructions to Mail or send are not always clear. My state I don't want to E-file with, but Turbo tax wants to charge me and hides all the information to mail in the return. Make it simple and clear directions on what I need to send if I E-file or if I want or need to mail the return. It needs to be very clear.

Awful 1099-B Import and User Interface

I have been using Turbo Tax for more than 10 years and this is the worst product you have ever distributed. The changes made this year to the Investments section are awful. After importing the 1099-B from my brokerage, I had to manually review and change the classification of literally every Long-term and Short-term entry. The User Interface supplied to make those changes was cumbersome and clunky.
