Interface is pretty antiquated. It seems to put the numbers where they belong, but sometimes requests information and is not clear in what is required. It finds "errors" but sometimes the suggested resolutions contradict the accurate information. It also gave a pretty serious incorrect "file by" date when I opted to make a MD payment by direct debit. It says if we electronically file by 4/30, we have until 4/30 to make a payment, but that is wrong. We must electronically file by 4/15. Only the payment can be postponed until 4/30. Also, some banks that are listed were unable to import my information so I had to enter it manually. Overall, my tax situation is now too complicated to do manually so I am grateful TurboTax is available. I'm used to it now, so I suppose I'll stick with it.

This was the most difficult year I've had using Turbo Tax. There were questions related to my investments that I haven't answered before. I had to consult with my advisor to answer some of the questions. I spent more time completing this return than I ever have before. I imported the information from my financial institution just as I have in the past. I expected all questions would be answered and I wouldn't have to call my advisor.

Every year I have hickups with Turbo Tax ... this year after I finished entering all my data it brought me to a screen where you saved either with or without a password and then a window popped up to enter security question. When the window popped up I could not change the question and Turob Tax froze. I could not cancel, save or quit the application with Mac's Command Q prompt. I was stuck in this state for over 30 mins... Once I finally got Mac & Turbo Tax restarted Turbo Tax said there were updates to install ... if these were fixes it should have prompted to install upon first using ... very annoying and frustrating... never smooth sailing with Turbo Tax!

This year's version has many issues when entering 1099 information. When deleting an entry the popup box appears off screen and you would not know this unless you scroll up. Took me three times to figure this one out. The system does not match imports with last years entries.

I've been using TurboTax to file my taxes every year for many years because it's really convenient. One thing I want to suggest is making the "search/tool" more intuitive. Sometimes, when I was trying to find a form or an item, it took a while for me to figure it out, and sometimes, I had to use Google to get the answer.

Not as foolproof as in past years. Had much to re-learn and that consumed much more of my time and left me with a "Gee, I hope so" I never had before. Try to stick with what works and not so much "Let's try this and see if it works". As an example it was an automatic last year to this year add-on and not if you ask for it. Sorry, I had to get it off my chest.

Cost to file is too high - In the future will now do paper submissions. Cost of software was also high compare to other software. Will likely change in future solely based on value. Software connection to website is a bit iffy since there is no reason for it during your work on the taxes - are you just collection data?

The "Foreign Tax Paid" 1116 instructions were very discouraging, so I abandoned exploring deduction/credit. The rest of it got me through fairly well. Unfortunately for me, there is always some new wrinkle to figure out. For the second year in a row, my broker download did not work. I'm learning a lot by preparing my family's taxes that makes me hope this External Revenue Service works out. Helped an elderly relative prepare tax return on online version, which I don't like as much as the desktop version.

The section I enjoy the least is the part regarding 1098-T and college expenses. It is split into multiple sections that force you to dig deeper to enter the room/board etc expenses vs having them on the same or next page from the actual tuition expenses. I

1. TurboTax should handle a K-1 with more than one activity automatically and not require multiple K-1 entries to handle this situation. 2. Foreign tax credit guidance is poor. I had dividends from stocks held in my Fidelity account on which I had paid foreign taxes in four different countries Turbotax premier asks that each foreign country be entered but does not follow through with asking for income/tax information for each each country- only the first one. The result is an erroneously low foreign tax credit. I went in circles for an hour before deciding to enter "various" and enter the total revenue from all 4 countries. I expect better from TurboTax Premier, you nearly cost me $1000 in tax credit.
