Excellent program

I had conversations with two online associates as my older computer would not update. They were very patient and a huge help. As it turned out I feel pretty sure it was a filter block on my internet connection. I took the laptop to the office and used the business internet and it worked find.

Disappointing glitches and hidden fees

I have used TurboTax for decades, but this year was the first time I experienced major, frustrating issues. First, the software was incredibly glitchy, automatically entering random numbers into forms that did not match my data. I had to manually delete forms like Schedule A and restart the program just to clear the error. Second, the Federal Review process failed completely. Instead of catching all errors at once, the system made me submit, fix one single error, resubmit, and then fix another error. This tedious, one-by-one process was extremely inefficient. Finally, despite paying for TurboTax Advantage—which is supposed to include Audit Defense—I was hit with an unexpected $45 charge because I filed an extension. Since I filed my returns...

Data input boxes not clearly identified to 1099-Bs

TT input boxes provided for entry of interest, dividend, capital gains, etc., data could not be related to specific imported 1099-INT, 1099-DIV and 1099-B forms . Previous versions of TT were much better at allowing/specifying specific accounts from which the data was imported. REQUIRING entry of account numbers would really be of great help. This year's format fell down in this area causing much confusion.

    Errors with no clear fix

I've received this error ind-032-04. The numbers were checked and they are correct, and the same error is returned. Since I can't figure this out on tax day, I've filed an extension. Then when I go to print the forms, I get a box that says there are errors, but there is no way to go find them before printing. This years software seems a bit off.

    You have messed up TurboTax

I had a great deal of trouble entering information from 1099B forms. Program took me around in circles & would not let me enter 1099 B information. There was no way to go back. I made a mistake somewhere else and could not go back to fix it easily. In previous years, I did not have these issues.

    not so much

Have used it for many years and it gets harder every year although my circumstances are simpler. Each year TurboTax pushes harder to upgrade and pay for tax advice and I have to assume that's the reason it gets harder to use evey year - just saying.

    Need improvements including fixing "improvements"

Have used for many years. Hate the changes for the interest/dividends/stocks. Ends up with more pages to file since harder to break into summary vs individual sales etc. It created extra page for interest even though there were empty lines on the standard tax form Too hard to fix when somehow have two accounts Always hated can not approximate gains until months after I purchase when you finally load cap gain forms - you could mark as draft - Have to create a pretend form using prior year to help estimate Q4 taxes. Your estimated taxes only OK if income for next year same of higher.

    TurboTax is Great!

I love TurboTax! I think the interview style is very comfortable and is organized well for eliciting the client information. I've never been unable to figure out where to make entries when I have something unusual. Something I adapted from the program is what TurboTax uses as categories of medical expenses (likely as prescribed by the IRS): Prescriptions, Professional Fees, Facility Fees, Lab/Diagnostic, etc., etc. When I file receipts and statements during the year, I do so according to these categories; then when tax season arrives, I am already well started on organizing and inputting my data .I've been a satisfied user for eighteen yearPilgrim22s!

What is wrong with your program this year?

I have used turbotax for many years, but this year has been severely problematic! I had to dump my file and start over twice due to corrupted data downloads. In one case i attempted to get a W2 form from a PDF that I selected on my computer and it loaded some data from my son that was well over a decade old! I don't even know where it found that data!! Another case, the data collection from Edward Jones was completely wrong. Twice!. This year was very frustrating and took way too long to accomplish!

    TurboTax is meh

As a tax filing software, it's good. But the user interface is terrible. There are boxes to check that are above the current scrolling box. It highlights the first radio button in a list like it's the default, but you still have to move to the radio buttons. One would think with all of the years they've done this, they would have gotten a decent User Interface / Experience person to sit down with them at list once. It found an error on some form. The summary of the Yes/No on the error was totally confusing. I went and found the form and the error had little to do with the summary.

Always useful, always a few glitches

Mostly easy to use, but the entry for interest, dividend, and RMD income is opaque -- seeing what will be on the return requires going to forms, and unnecessary--and annoying--change from previous years. Also, some prompts seem missing until review, i.e. required address of charities.

    Heading downhill fast

Your product is really heading in the wrong direction. It's almost feels like you are making the product to require the audit and support services that cost more money. This used to be a good program. Now its getting to be not much more than filling out the paper forms

Switched from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Premier

I've used TurboTax Online for the past few years and it was always very frustrating for me because the transitions between pages are slow and you can't easily see the effect your changes are having on the actual forms that will be sent. So this year, I decided to try the desktop version (TurboTax Premier) and it was a much better experience. Page transitions were fast. Imports that didn't work with the online version worked in the desktop version. It was easy to navigate between all the different sections of the tax return. I finished my taxes in a much lower state of frustration this year.

TurboTax is good, however I experienced a bug.

There was a software bug preventing me from entering summary information for stock transactions. Most of the experts I worked with were quite helpful, but one made a suggestion regarding the decision to file an amended return for the prior year, which was different from the others, and which I wanted to discuss further with him, but there is apparently no way to contact a specific expert again.

TT Premier 2024 is slower & Card paymt gives error

    1. Direct form downloads from Fidelity brought down multiple empty forms along with actual forms provided by Fidelity. Extra hassle to delete them. 2. The TT Premier has bugs that are slowing down respond to go from page to page when you click next buttons. Finally, the worst part is that when I tried to pay by my visa to pay for state tax transmittal, it said the card did not go through even though the payment was made. When I called Tech help, that rep and I struggled for an hour so I could finally get the taxes filed.

    Turbotax is great!

I got my taxes done pretty easily, and I'm getting a refund (yay!). I did have to call and speak with someone about my K-1, but Crystal was amazing... my federal return went up, my state taxes went down. I do wish there was a way to add more info for K-1's, but I also understand they can be very different, so I can see how that would be hard. The info from the IRS was useless.

    I won't be back

Turbotax is MOST ASSUREDLY NOT awesome. You have made something that used to be very elegant and straight forward a totally miserable experience. First, I would number the pages that print in each version because they do NOT print in any discernible sequence. You have broken down questions in various sections that are unnecessary to move from page to page. It's unclear if this is done for "seniors" or why. I did not request a senior (SR) version. I have used Turbotax for over 30 years and the 2024 version is awful!!! It took many attempt to save the data that Ihad entered. I finally didn't close my computer but left it on overnight so I didn't loose what I entered. This is not a problem with MacBook Pro nor its operating system. It ...

    Turbo Tax embraces DOGE

Have used Turbo Tax for years. Have never been audited. LOL But I liked having the CD, disappointed that you discontinued it. Some of us older folks are not as technology savvy as you think. Your do everything online culture is not user friendly. I do not like the ideal of having my tax returns in the cloud.

TurboTax average at best with broken printing

It is surprising to me the number of issues with this SW after being on the market so many years. Navigation continues to be cumbersome, the prompts vague and pretty useless when asking a question, and printing isn't right. I've always had issues with printing using Turbotax, but this year is the worst. It won't print the Fed tax summary/cover page nor the estimated tax summary listing the dates, mailing address and amounts. Those pages are not even available under the individual form printing option. It's been reported on the support site but no fix. You can google search it to see it. Crazy!

    Always reliable

I miss the CDS. I always saved it with my forms and it was very useful when I had a computer fry. It is easy to file and use. Access to historical stack prices is on your own but Yahoo finance has a lot of data on line. Overall, it is great and easy to use. I highly recommend it.

    A bit frustrating at times.

There wasn't a good explanation on why I was forced to enter zero as the number of personal use days for my home listed as an "owner-occupied rental" in which I rented a room and use of common space to a roommate for the full year. It would not let me enter the rental days as 366 days (leap year days) and then also enter the days that I was at the home at the same time (which was part time).

    Changes are not always positive.

I have been using TurboTax since 1988! However, you've made some negative changes this year. The step by step section for dividends is ridiculous and tedious! Working with forms is blocked in some places. You need to remember that many of us know how to prepare a tax return and in some cases prefer to work directly on the forms. Don't make that more burdensome.
