ENOUGH!!!

I have been waiting since 2019 for Turbo Tax to make available the ability to "attach an election statement" to a federal tax return. In particular a statement to elect under IRS CODE SECTION 266 AND IRS REGULATIONS 1.266-1 TO CAPITALIZE RATHER THAN DEDUCT YEARLY PROPERTY TAXES ON UNIMPROVED AND UNPRODUCTIVE RAW LAND. I would NOT think it a difficult task for Turbo Tax programmers to figure out how to do this! Because Turbo Tax REFUSES to make this option available to its users we are FORCED TO PRINT AND FILE OUR TAX RETURNS BY MAIL! I have been more than patient, I've had enough!

2024 Taxes Complex Process but Manageable

TurboTax Premier made the complex process of filing my taxes feel manageable, even during a lengthy session. The entire workflow is thoughtfully guided — each step is explained clearly, and the software anticipates where you might have questions or need clarification. I appreciated how it walked me through everything from rental property income to investment losses with calm, professional structure. It wasn’t rushed, and I didn’t feel lost. The best part? Help was always available. Any time I ran into something confusing, I could ask a question or get additional explanations directly in the app or online. That support gave me the confidence to keep going and finish strong. It’s clear this software is built for both accuracy and peace of mind — and it shows. I’d absolutely recommend TurboTax Premier to anyone with more complex tax needs like real estate, investments, or retirement accounts. The experience was smooth, well-supported, and worth it.

TurboTax Premier is barely usable for US expats

For US expats Premier does *in principle* have sufficient features for filing US taxes. In reality, it is *extremely* difficult to properly formulate the tax situation of a US citizen living abroad, and Premier does not really help here. Of course, much of the problem lies with the reality that expats are taxes twice: once in the country of their residence and once for their US citizenship. But TurboTax does nothing to make this morass of tax lunacy transparent to the user.

Organization of Forms on left and Numbers source

The list of Forms along the left side of the screen should be in the order of the forms when filed. That would make it easier to find. Ex. 1040, schedule 1,2,3, Schedule A,B,C,D (along with their corresponding forms), etc. Why is charitable contributions first? When I see a dollar amount in a box, I used to be able to double click it and the source or form would appear. I want to see the list of supporting numbers that came up with the total. Ex.Schedule D, line 12...which numbers were added up? I had to ask AI and search every K1.

Turbo tax is adequate, but still needs work

I was not offered the automatic input of my ICAHN and Suburban Propane stocks and had to input the data individually. Both offer me the ability to transfer the documents, but nothing in Turbo tax provided for that. Additionally, several of my banks were not in the turbo tax system so the same thing, I had to input the data. These should be easily entered automatically. Due to the fact that one of my 1099s was misplaced by the USPS, I had to go through months of work to obtain it from the Feds, resulting in a delay of being able to file my taxes on time. All Federal 1099s should be easily available through Turbo tax in a download system, but entering a social security number the same as the big banks.

Turbo Tax is not getting better

You do not do a good job of carrying over information from prior years, like Royalty information. It seems that every year I end up with different looking entries. The information is there but it is not consistent. Fix your Jump to link As far as I can tell, it does not exist. Move estimated payment and applying overpayments. They do not belong with Deductions. I have been preparing taxes personally and professionally for 45 years. That is not logical; it is ridiculous. Try looking at a tax form. Unfortunately, I don't think your product is improving

Turbo Tax needs some serious fixes.

New user interface is complicated and confusing to use, you are not sure you got all of your data entered. You are better off just picking what section you want to work on and doing it manually. And you need to stop asking about importing data, give an option immediately to opt out of that and input your data yourself. It takes too much time to keep going back and forth between the forms and the data input to figure out where you are. Also, every time you logon, you have to update the application, takes an eternity. Estimated Taxes payments amounts should be shown in the application. Now if you want to see your estimated taxes payment for next year, you have to switch to forms view and look up the form, unnecessarily cumbersome and wasted time, especially if you are trying to fine tune that amount.

my review

Very poor this year. Even uploading brokerage data from companies I've used for years was incompetently done. There's a lot of programming effort that goes into setting up marketing for add-ons. More resources should be spent on actually doing and explaining what is actually needed to file. I find it outrageous that free e-filing of federal taxes actually costs $40.00 for processing a refund. How about being simply honest that your going to charge $40.00 more that the increasingly outrageous costs of the programs I already need from you. Any your incestuous relationships with Microsoft and Google are revolting. I'm actually thinking about going back to paper and erasers. You do have inertia on your side - but that counts for less and less each year. Chuck

Can't live without it........ can't live with it

been using for years, and could not live without it. but it's become glitchy. it must require tons of memory bc on my desktop it runs slow and there is very long lag after every click. many of the magnifiers do not work. when you click, after the delay, it redoes the page but stays in same place. usually when you click again on the magnifier, it goes to the correct page. a number of the numbers which have no magnifier, right click for "data source" and it either has nothing, or gives incorrect information.

TurboTax has been a steadfast tool.

I have utilized TT for all of my family filings for the past 30 years. I can't recall ever having an issue with the program. The help features usually point me to the correct info when I have a question of understanding. I've used the Premier version to handle investment filing info.
