Unethical Business practice

I will be actively looking for opportunities to ditch turbotax next year for your unethical business practices. I purchased premier desktop with a $25 fee for state efile. When starting it prompted me to select online and said it was free after finishing, to file would have cost me 270 dollars. So I went to desktop and was unable to import my completed return so I redid it on desktop and when I went to file the option to pay with a card was not working (probably a turbotax policy) so I had to pay an additional $40 to use the refund to pay and amazingly that worked, who would have thought. I think there are now better options than turbo tax.

Disappointed

I was disappointed this year. I've used Turbo Tax for years and never had a problem This year, importing from my brokerage account was difficult. I paid for a Turbo Tax consultation and Alicia answered all my questions and helped resolve my issues. At one point, the Turbo Tax screen froze up (on a new laptop) and I had to do a hard shut down and restart. At the end, it kept pointing out "errors" which I fixed, but it continued pointing out the "errors." It was frustrating!

It feels like TurboTax slipped a little this year

I've been using Turbotax for over 10 years, and it was always easy to use. This time, I ran into several glitches, starting with the new way the software instructed me to load in my data from last year. There is a popup window that addresses this at the start, and it is a dead loop. Eventually I went back to the way we did it last year, and that worked okay. This version also decided that I must have Canadian data to input, which has never been true. I went over my entries, and I do not see anyplace where I said anything about Canada. The software was sure I had some Canadian income, and I spent more than a few minutes trying to get out of that loop. The forms about Canada are still in my final submission, but with zeros for the amounts. Eventually I got the job done, and I wish there was an easier way to review my data input on the Form 1099's (I think that was easier last year.). I will probably still use TurboTax next year, but I hope they work the bugs out before then. Thank you

Worse than last year

I found this version worse than last yers. Why did you have to let me get all the way through the filing process before telling me I had to upgrade at the last step. I signed up for the $60 live advice but the advisors were never able to see my uploaded return nor view all of my screens, even after I opened up ll the permissions. It wa unclear what value of any that $60 got me.

Not a good year for this product.

Transmission of data from financial institutions was a mess this year, more work on users part to correct. Some error messages vague ---For example, a field that required info [caused by data capture failure as per above] was not highlighted--- no clarification of the issue. Errors popped up in final checks, and at times disappeared simply by employing error check repeatedly. Glitchy As a 20-plus year customer, this was the worst!

Pretty good with a few hiccups this year

Always use TT each year. Tried the tax advisor options this year and wasn't thrilled. Several attempts to have my taxes reviewed were either unsuccessful or when I did get an agent on his support wasn't any better than what I could and did myself. Also there was some issues with the PA tax download that was misidentifying and this calculating in error that had to be worked around. First time I have really had any issues with TT and wil still us it next year.

Turbo Tax - my preferred tax preparer

Overall Turbo Tax is my preferred tax preparation product. First time using the Premier and newly retired, some questions and area were new and not user friendly or clear. But the help boxes contained enough information to clarify what was being asked usually. And after going thru medical twice as i thought the total wrong but wasn't sure how, realized finally that the medicare costs were being counted. A reminder note for that would have been nice. First time ever i went for direct deposit. Not happy about giving my bank info out. Do i get a notice when it is deposited? I do appreciate the review at the end and risk of audit estimate. Thank you!

Turbo Tax is cheaper than hiring a accountant

Overall, I like using TurboTax and have been using it for myself and my grown children for years. I do not like having to Pay $25 for each state (I am up to 3) nor paying $25 to e-file each additional state. There are multiple times when Turbo Tax asks for the same information to be entered, which is annoying and repetitive, e.g., routing and checking account numbers for federal and again for State. It asked how much my state refund was last year, after digging it up, it already had the number, annoying again.

Getting worse each year.

Pay for the product and get bombarded with ads for more product, then you still make me go back to prior years to fill in data when you should be able to either pull it or at least link me directly to prior year forms. What is the point buying this software. Even adding a "required" nickname on this survey feels like a scam, not optional and has to be 4+ char, why? Just a hassle.

Great Program but needs Work on Foreign Taxes Paid

For the most part, I'm very happy with Turbotax. One issue that is irritating is how the program doesn't deal well with foreign taxes paid. I had 1099-DIVs from multiple financial institutions and the program was very clumsy at handling totals by country. I finally had to go with the "Various" classification for everything to make it all work.
