- 4 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase8/15/2024Once I got the printer completely connected it works fine. My four star rating was based on the working printer not customer support. I desperately needed some support help but you cannot find a phone number. Eventually I figured it out and it works well. Big improvement over my old printer. A good friend is considering a new print, copy and scan printer, I advised him the quality was good but if you have a problem I would consider a brand that offers customer support.
Do it yourself, no customer support.
John - 1 out of 5 stars review7/15/2023This is the most frustrating and worst quality printer I have ever had the misfortune of buying. The printer will not stay connected to wireless network (laptop, TV, tablet, phone, etc. have no issue staying connected to my wireless network). The only way to fix the connection error is factory resetting the printer and re-installing everything. HP Smart app can't fix it. Even the HP Print & Scan Doctor app is unable to fix it. After re-installing it will work for maybe 2 or 3 print jobs. I purchased from Sam's Club on sale without doing any research or reading reviews. It turns out the connectivity issue is a major defect in the HP Smart Tank 7000 series. Don't waste money buying this printer; you will not even be able to use.
Worthless piece of junk!
Timothy - 1 out of 5 stars review2/27/2024I have used HP printers for years. So I bought the HP 7002 thinking this would be great. That,s what I get for thinking. First you need a computer pro to get it up and running. Trust me when I say HP support was no help. I was told it was my computer that was the problem. We got it working and I thought we were good. Now it goes off line all by itself. I will never purchase another HP printer. I think this unit will make a great fishing weight.
Extremely disappointed
Ticked - 5 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase1/1/2024Haven't used it much, but it's the same brand as the one we're replacing. Our old one worked well for years, I expect another HP to do well again. The text is crisp, setup was straightforward, and all my devices found it easily on the network. I'm really interested in the ink - our last one needed 2 cartridges for a full reload, each cost over $40 and would last for less than 2000 pages. I'm hoping this does as well as advertised.
Hopeful
ANW - 5 out of 5 stars review9/21/2024The printer was super easy to set up and start using. My 12yo assisted and we had no issues. Wasn't sure if filling the ink tanks would be messy- it turned out to be easy. Each bottle empties completely into the tank. I'm not sure how one bottle of blue, pink and yellow will last up to 3 years but it's got to be better than the Epson WorkForce Pro Ink Hog I'm throwing in the trash.
Easy setup took 20-30 min
HP 7002 Smart Tank - 1 out of 5 stars review11/30/2023Haven't been able to connect it to the WifI network. When I hardwire it to the computer via USB it would only print in Black and White. Had high hopes since there were good reviews. Oh Well. Will return and hope Sams honors the Return policy.
Connectivity issues. Driver not available online
ZBBMIKE - 5 out of 5 stars review12/15/2024Had mine for about 6 months and it is just a horrible printer, I have always been an HP user for the last 25+ years for both printers and computers. This one is so far beneath their usual user friendly, ease of use that it's hard to believe even it came from the same company. Spent hours on the phone trying to get it set up, and still can't print from my iPad or iPhone. You can barely read the information screen. You need to use their smart app to make it work. I just want a printer that is intuitive and doesn't require me to learn a program just to make it work, I'm hoping this is not the future HP, if so I will be a past customer.
One lousy printer
BobW - 3 out of 5 stars review12/2/2023Recently purchased this product. Disappointed you are advertising a 7002 model and I received the 7000 model. This is deceiving, we should actually know what we are getting before we order. No problems printing so far but I did keep getting an error message trying to set up (trouble connecting) that eventually went away.
Know before you buy
JS - 4 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase1/10/2024I have used an Epson tank printer for the last 3 years, and have become a huge fan of the concept. No more cartridges! (It will take me a while to become familiar with the HP counterpart, but I am confident that I will be happy with the HP in time!
New- need time to evaluate further.
David - 1 out of 5 stars review6/22/2024I bought this last year and did not get a chance to install it until April of this year. I'm sorry I waited so long as I would have taken it back for a refund. This piece of junk has to be turned off and then back on nearly every day as it cannot hold onto a Wifi signal. The printer is 6 feet away from my router. Also, the factory presets do not allow you to print in color direct from my MacBook Pro computer. To do this you have to use the HP Smart App (and I'm questioning the Smart) or print from an iPhone or iPad. Total waste of money.
Pure Junk - HP Should be Ashamed
Eddie - 1 out of 5 stars review3/31/2025The printer I bought is a real piece of Junk. I could not get it to work to print envelopes. Every which way, the envelopes get jammed or go crooked. Anyway, a total disappointment. I will never buy another HP printer again. For basic papers, is fine.
Did not work for me on envelopes
Lomelir - 1 out of 5 stars review3/7/2025Dont buy HP printers. They now force you to use only HP brand ink. Theres actually a chip inside the printer that wont allow other ink. So you have to pay the exorbitant ink prices, or subscribe to their monthly ink program. Both are money pit rip offs! Beware of HP printers!!!
Don't buy HP
Logan - 3 out of 5 stars review3/13/2025I purchased this and found out 8 days after the return period that it doesn't support auto-duplex with legal paper. The box says it has an auto-duplex feature and one of the paper sizes the printer supports is Legal. No where in the manual that came with the printer does it state otherwise. Deceptive advertising. If you try to auto-duplex with legal paper you will see this error in the app on your phone (not on the printer but your phone): "Paper too long to auto-duplex". That is another failure in my opinion. The tiny printer screen doesn't show this message on it. After some digging on HP support site I found this link about paper specifications and it states the auto-duplexer is only for Letter and Executive paper. https://support...
Not a good printer for Legal paper.
LawnRanger - 1 out of 5 stars review7/10/2025This printer requires setting up again from time to time and the instructions are not clear. Just now I cannot go to support with a question because mine has expired. Everytime it has had to be reset, it took me hours. Now I have tried possibly 4 hours,. I have had great service from prior HP products but this is not accepable.
Has to be reset up for no reason,
Grinnie - 5 out of 5 stars review3/25/2024I really love this printer. I replaced the Epson Eco Tank - which turned out to be the worst printer ever (2 different styles - one I returned, the other directly to the trash). HP was easy to set up, easy to print, no paper jams, images are sharp and colorful (best print in color) and I have not had any issues printing via Bluetooth with print jobs initiated on my computer or mobile phone. I love it! HP says it includes 'up to 3 years of ink' - I just need to figure out how I can buy it. Sams does not have this for purchase so I may go directly to HP to purchase.
HP Great Value for the Price
Emma - 1 out of 5 stars review1/1/2025I NEVER give 1 star reviews, but here goes... I bought printer #1 early Dec. '24. It worked OK for a week, then lost the Wi-Fi connection AND identified a print-head problem. After numerous attempts to fix, I returned to Sams Club. I bought same printer #2 (Thinking that this problem was simply isolated)... I spent a few hours attempting to connect to my Wi-Fi with no results. I then called HP and spent 3 HOURS on the phone with "Technical Support". Although they were attentive, after 3 hrs. they authorized a RERTURN to HP. So I boxed up printer #2, sent to HP and 2 weeks later I got Printer #3! ... AGAIN, No Wi-Fi connection and Print head notification! ... Beaten, I humbly returned printer #3 to Sams Club and they were terrific wi...
Cheaply made Junk
Jerry - 1 out of 5 stars review2/19/2025have had this printer for a year. when i try to print anything, it normally takes a few hours to get it to print if it ever does. I am so done with it! the specifications also said it had a USB port. I cannot find it. Or it probably would have saved me hours of trouble. I cannot get it to copy anything. The only thing this thing does is print out the pg that tells you what the different symbols are for. UGG!
Don't waste your money

Bahamas - 5 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase10/16/2023Once you install all the software it works great. Come with extra ink that will last a long time.
