Great Value

Was very happy with the quality and price. This is a great size when you don't want a big ham. It's enough for dinner or breakfast for a family of 5. I like that they keep for a couple of years in my pantry and are easy to open. They have a pull tab so do not require a can opener.

What happened to canned ham

My mother would make canned ham all the time and it was good but this isn't. Doesn't even taste or look like ham. Canned ham like all canned meats have taken the plunge into grabage. Your dog would turn his nose to this might even bite you for serving such junk.

Great Product

It is mostly ham and not mostly fat as some have said. You can slice it and fry or microwave it and the fat melts away. It says on the website and on the can that it has 7 grams of fat in 2 oz. They don't process it as much as some you can buy in the deli or packaged/refrigerated but that's why it costs $1 - $2 a pound LESS and why it looks different. It is true it does NOT look as pictured on the can but it's a decent buy and great if you can't make it to the store or for camping.

You Should Have A Row Of These In Your Pantry!

It doesn't get handier than a canned ham. Open, heat, serve. There's never any waste. I like to glaze the ham with a sugar (Splenda) and mustard mixture with some ground cloves (not too many) added in. This isn't a huge, fancy ham, but it's delicious anyway, and the convenience of having it ready at a moment's notice is fantastic. It's as cheap as fast food at this price.

Too Much Fat and other by-products,Not Enough Meat

While one would expect fat in such a product, there was too much fat and other by-products in this product.( I purchased multiples, to have on hand in the event of a prolonged power outage since I live in Hurricane territory) The only thing I think this product is good for is ala cooking beans in a crockpot or over a campfire. For lunch sandwiches in slices or making ham salad, I would recommend purchasing a better quality ham product.

While the price for this "Ham" was ok there is a reason for that. It is according to the label 50% fat.Not my Idea of a premium ham and, I think that 50% may be understated. I bought 2 of these. I tried one,the other I don't quite know what t do with. I can't even feel good if I was to donate it to the food bank. Maybe the cat's will eat it.

very bad

I wanted to let you know i recently bought 2 DAK hams from Walmart and when i opened the first one it looked bad. it appeared to be some meat and a lot of fat pressed together and when i opened the ham it self there were just chunks. I then opened the second one and it was the same. i threw them both out.i don't know whats going on at the plant but there is no way these hams should have been sold. i have bought these hams before and never had this problem . I also took photos and i will never buy this ham again this is totally uncalled for!!!! the codes on the labels were 06:12 260 EXPR: 0201-2017 i sent a 2 emails to the company and got not response

This is NOT canned ham...

Canned ham used to be just that... chunks of ham. This is not that, it's a prepared meat product with small... very small... chunks of ham in it. Chunks the size of a pea. Otherwise, it's Spam. Now I like Spam, and if you like Spam you'll like this. But it's not ham... definitely not PREMIUM HAM as it says on the can. It used to be but it's not anymore.

it's not a chunk of ham , but it is delicious!!!!

this is good ham pieces ground into a paste with added ham fat. Ham is the only ingredient on the can. Don't expect solid meat for this price. I use it to make ham salad and I eat a can a week. Just mix this, mayo, sweet relish, and clove. YUM for my TUM!! --faye kane ♀ girl brain

Clogged Arteries

This product smells great. When you open the can you will see that the majority of it is fat. FAT. So unless you are wishing for a heart attack or stroke, I personally would avoid. And I did order 10 cans of these. But I ordered them for my cats as a treat. And when I sliced into it and saw the actual fat globs in the greasy to the feel ham product, I guess I can use that word even though it feels foreign, I felt guilty giving it to my cats. So the remaining cans will be stored until this coming Winter when a little extra fat will not be too harmful for outside cats. I hope. Now, if you're stocking up for the next big......whatever, then I can see these being used in a survival kit of some kind. Barely, but I can see it. Tuna would be safer in my personal opinion. But of course I am and have been caring for a husband who had a heart attack at the age of 54 and 56 and since then......none. But his Mother used to cook in Lard and it was a time when 'healthy cooking' and 'comfort food' was far in the future, at least in the back woods where we live.
