My first try of a DAK Ham and I am impressed.

I have never tried a DAK ham before, so opened up one this morning. I fried it with onions and put on grits, was excellent. I live out in the desert so buying fresh meat is difficult. It was very tasty and when it become available again I will order more. I can make several meals from one can, will try beans and ham next.

one pound ham no refridgeration until open...

... that being the greatest selling point. Great slicing it up microwave, or fry some up for a sandwich, or add to rice, or noodles with cream of mushroom soup. buy this ham up in bulk and store it in your pantry. perfect for taking camping to. maybe stocking your "Bug out bag" for emergencies.

Tastes like ham, but it's not ham...

This is the fault of Dak for calling the product Premium Ham. It is, in fact, ham-flavor potted meat product. Its look and texture has been compared to Spam, but that's not quite it. I cooked it like ham, scoring the top and adding brown sugar, then drizzling it with water to make a glaze. And although it smells and tastes like ham, it has the consistency and look of soufflé or jello parfait. It is fluffy and can be eaten with a spoon. I have been looking for meats that can be stored without refrigeration, but this will not be one of them.

Yuck!

This was pretty disgusting. I remember my mom making a canned him every once in a while when we were kids and I liked it. This one was not like meat it seemed almost like it was a paste put into her shape of a ham. I tried to doctorate up I scored the top of it put cloves in and baked it for a while but still not very good.

the little ham that could

I have purchased this product before. It is great if you are the camping or rving type. I am not particularly fond of pork but for a ham this isn't bad and definitely not overwhelming. If you have a situation where you don't have refrigeration or cooking facilities, say a power outage or off the grid living. It is a handy little item to have around. Goes great in the emergency food supply category as well. Served hot or cold, on sandwiches or in salad, etc. An excellent product to consider keeping around.

I do not recommend this product at all. The texture and flavor are disappointing and feel more like a glorified canned luncheon meat than real ham. It tastes overly processed and lacks any depth or quality you would expect from a “premium” product. Stay away from this product.

I didn't order these.

Okay, I'm sure the ham is fine? I haven't had it yet and possibly never will. When we opened the box? BEDBUGS. WHY- I can understand it's hard to maintain a large facility but really? Bedbugs. Inside the box they shipped it in. Bagged it, tossed it outside, possibly look at dealing with it later, maybe not worth it. B E D B U G S being delivered with our food now?

Looks like dog food

This is worse than chopped ham lunch meat. At least the lunch meat tastes like ham. Mushy and gross. I bought four when there was no food around. We opened one to see if we should keep stocking up. The consistency is not like ham, it's like firmer potted meat. I chopped it up, fried it and tried to hide the meat product in a potato and egg scramble, it didn't work well. Better than starving.

Seal compromised by damage

Unfortunately these arrived bent up . I think when they were bent it ruined the integrity of the seal. I can push on the can and it pops in and out. It is pretty bad. I would not dare to eat product. They will be returned. I have purchased these previously and never had a problem. Funny that the rest of the order was just fine!
