While the price for this "Ham" was ok there is a reason for that. It is according to the label 50% fat.Not my Idea of a premium ham and, I think that 50% may be understated. I bought 2 of these. I tried one,the other I don't quite know what t do with. I can't even feel good if I was to donate it to the food bank. Maybe the cat's will eat it.

Convenience, Size, Freshness, & Taste

This DAK Ham is really good. I love that it's in a can. It stays fresh till you are ready for it. No refrigeration needed. It can just sit on the shelf. It's the perfect amount for 3 or 4 people for ham and eggs, or ham and pancakes in the morning. It's also great just putting the whole thing in a pan with some brown sugar and a couple pineapple slices with the juice. Jut let it heat over low heat till it's hot all the way through. Cut the ham into thick slices. And serve it with your potatoes and veggies. It's a perfect meal. It's also just the right amount to use when making ham salad for 3 or 4 people. Ham salad sandwiches are a big hit around here. But when you just want to keep it simple, you can always just open it up and cut some thick slices, warm it in the microwave, and fix a hot ham and cheese sandwich. We love it. You can't go wrong with the convenience of the can, the one pound size, the freshness, the great taste, and the many ways you can use it.

I am not a ham person, this ham changed my mind.

I hate potted meats. They usually give me a headache, but my husband bought this ham and I reluctantly tried it. So glad I did! Love the long shelf life also. For nights we don't feel like cooking this is perfect, and was great as a ham salad. Totally sold on this ham. We buy several at a time. Great for emergency food supplies too. Hurricane season just got a whole lot tastier!

chopped pressed ham chunks

Pretty much like Spam but not as good tasting, and this DAK is more expensive per ounce. There seems to be a lot more fat in the DAK than in even generic spam-like products. Spam-type cans are 12 ounces, the DAK is 16 ounces. Hormel Spam is $2.50 per can (20.8 cents per ounce) on walmart.com Great Value Canned spam-style is $2.00 per can on here ($16.7 cents per ounce). Our local dollar$store has decent generic spam for about $1.67. So, go figure on the cost per ounce versus this DAK at nearly 24.8 cents per ounce. We thought these used to be an actual slab of ham in a can. I guess either our memories were incorrect or DAK has changed.

It's GREEN! I wouldn't feed it to my cat, or dog!

I was glad to see another reviewer with code numbers, those numbers ended with the year "2017", mine, of course is different. 23:06 260 and EXPR: 0423-2018. It would seem that a year later DAK is still having problems. It is partly dry and almost green with brown spots, and it is stinking up the house! Customer service very poor. I could leave my name and number, they didn't seem too worried, "Wait until April gets back from vacation." The can didn't look damaged. 1-800-526-4909 plumroseusa.com It's been hours and no call back. Too bad. I wish I had a photo before I stuck it in the freezer to wait for trash day. Ugly stuff, did I mention it stinks?

Dak Canned Ham

My canned ham was a mess of fat. I was not impressed at all. The smell was not to great, it fell apart, and was not great tasting. I'll stick to a different brand. Only tried this one due to the ship to home convenience.

If you like cat food, you?re gonna love this ham.

This ham is gross. It?s bits of lite and dark hame pieces compressed together. The consistency is mushy and off putting. You can cut it with a spoon. There is nothing premium about this ?ham?

Pretty good for cooked dishes

This ham is really good to add to cooked recipes. I make boxed mixes of scalloped potatoes and put some chopped ham in those. With a salad, it makes a whole meal.

A little disappointed. I had not bought this in many years and I dont remember it having the texture and similiar flavor to spam. However, it is good to have on hand for back up.

Great survival food!

This isn't Spam but close. Browning slices brings out the flavor. Would not recommend eating cold but that's just my opinion. When we have an environmental disaster you will be happy to have this product!
