AcuRite 5-in-1 Weather Station with Lightning Detection

I was delighted to purchase it last year for weather monitoring during a home renovation project in the Sierra Nevada.  I bought a second one for my primary residence this year, but was disappointed to find that the current model no longer offers remote monitoring so it was returned.

The new model lacks remote monitoring capabilities

Easy set up

I bought this for my parents, they love it. They live in Central Florida so they get use out of all the features.

A lot of features at a good price.  Seems very accurate and the lightning detector is very sensitive.  Great buy!!!

Weather station

The amount of time the screen stays in a "readable" mode cannot be set by the consumer, at least it is not explained as part of the set up process. The time it stays bright enough to read the screen is too short to read anything. I purchased this model because I previously had the same manufacturer just an earlier version which was fine for about 5 years. Even when the screen is lit to read it, the colors are so light it is hard to distiguish the individual sections.

Diffcult to read display

I have been using this station for several weeks now, and I am impressed with the quality and accuracy. I am equally impressed with the lighting detector. Homes with swimming pools would benefit from this detector, for you can monitor lighting strikes as far as 25 miles away giving more than enough time to get out of the pool. I had an issue with the paring of station and the indoor panel, but after several attempts I was able to make this happen.
