Dependable, but limited lifespan. I've owned 4 of these. They last about 2 1/2 to 3 years. I get it, they are not the $2000 units that you might like to have that are hard wired. But for a hobbyist and for wireless connectivity to the home screen, $129 is what would I expect, and so I am loyal to this brand. MIne is installed in a harsh saltwater environment. It's tough on the hardware, batteries, and the UV and humidity is extreme. When Hurricane Harvey hit a few years ago, my remote unit disappeared, and my screen was locked with 99MPH on the wind gauge, 9.6 inches of rain on the rain gauge history, and 27.8 on atmospheric pressure. I later found the remote unit about 200 yds from the house in terrible shape and kept as a souvenir next to a photo of the screen shot of the display on my shelf in my library/study.. Priceless.

Ordered this for my husband who likes to keep up-to-the-minute with what's going on with the weather. We had an older model that finally gave out after a number of years and when he saw this one with the lightening detector, he just had to have it. So far, it's working great. We had a storm a couple of nights ago and lightening was detected several times 5 to 11 miles away from the house. Needless to say, hubby was thrilled. Good product!

Replaced an older Weather Station from a different manufacturer. This one added Lightning alerts, and I am amazed at the amount of nearby strikes. Could not be happier, easy setup, would like smartphone interface and this model does not have that function.

I purchased this unit to replace one that was damaged by a violent hailstorm. It works mostly as expected. I'm having a little trouble with the lightning sensor sending false positive strikes. The one thing I'm wanting to be addressed is the fact that when a sensor is added to or reconnected to the main display ALL the saved information stored in the display is lost. i.e. Because this is a replacement system: I have a previously owned lightning sensor but to test it I lost ALL the information stored in the display, when I connected this weather station to my original display (I now have two) I lost the records of high temp of 114deg f July 10, 2026, and high wind of 78mph I would love to see a display that can "find" a new sensor (or a sensor with new batteries) without needing a hard reset.

The unit works well. Very accurate right out of the box. My second one purchased. I do have issues with lightning detector reading false strikes constantly.

When I programed the base unit and had the outdoor unit just feet away the humidity was different then the inside unit. Sometimes by as much as 5%. The temperature was usually within one of two degrees. The lighting detection appears to work fairly well. Overall I am happy with the performance of the unit for the cost.

I have owned several Acurite stations before purchasing this one. Not satisfied at all with the product. The display is not as readable as the normal 5-1 version. The lightning tracker sensor is useless. Instructions say to relocate it to find the best location and there is NO location that works. It also makes an annoying beep all the time.

Nice, with one superior flaw and that was the fact that the "Lightning Alarm Sound" CanNOT be disabled permanently. The first night that we had it (in December) this Alarm awakened us at 3:40 am because there were three lightning strikes 9 miles away, pretty cool during waking hours but we like to enjoy a full uninterrupted 6-8 hours of sleep each night & this thing was just way too annoying & inconvenient. I even contacted Acurite support but they were of No help. Apparently, you can disable the lightning alarm sound for just "hours" at a time but then you have to constantly mess around redoing it to disable the sound. It has been returned.

The amount of time the screen stays in a "readable" mode cannot be set by the consumer, at least it is not explained as part of the set up process. The time it stays bright enough to read the screen is too short to read anything. I purchased this model because I previously had the same manufacturer just an earlier version which was fine for about 5 years. Even when the screen is lit to read it, the colors are so light it is hard to distiguish the individual sections.

This is our 3rd in 10 years. I picked this one because it was an upgrade from out last AcuRite. The screen was stationary and it had the lightning detection. We installed it properly but the temperature is off, the rain gauge is really off and the lightning detector goes off all the time. If I turn my porch light on or off, it reads it as a lightning strike. On one sunny day we had over 375 lightning strikes. I finally took the batteries out and it sits on the corner table as a joke. I wish I could return it.
