I bought this for my husband as he is a weather fanatic and we also wanted the lightening detection since we live in Florida. We absolutely love it. It gives you so much needed info. I would recommend it.

There is, due to all the features in this weather station, a rather steep learning curve if you want to take advantage of them all. The basic stuff works right out of the box. Other feature takes a little setup. For example, setting the right wind direction requires a specific type of location that is level with the unit facing True North. For that one needs a compass app or the magnetic version and away from any object that would distort the wind’s direction. I also found the several setup buttons to be very touch sensitive. Things can get a little crazy simply by touching parts of the face before you have studied where each is and what each does. All in all it’s a good unit and a good value. One issue, not the unit’s problem. I kept picking up a sensor that I could not identify. It was interfering with my indoor readout. Changing the ID code from A to C fixed that.

I have been using this station for several weeks now, and I am impressed with the quality and accuracy. I am equally impressed with the lighting detector. Homes with swimming pools would benefit from this detector, for you can monitor lighting strikes as far as 25 miles away giving more than enough time to get out of the pool. I had an issue with the paring of station and the indoor panel, but after several attempts I was able to make this happen.

Replaced an older Weather Station from a different manufacturer. This one added Lightning alerts, and I am amazed at the amount of nearby strikes. Could not be happier, easy setup, would like smartphone interface and this model does not have that function.

Dependable, but limited lifespan. I've owned 4 of these. They last about 2 1/2 to 3 years. I get it, they are not the $2000 units that you might like to have that are hard wired. But for a hobbyist and for wireless connectivity to the home screen, $129 is what would I expect, and so I am loyal to this brand. MIne is installed in a harsh saltwater environment. It's tough on the hardware, batteries, and the UV and humidity is extreme. When Hurricane Harvey hit a few years ago, my remote unit disappeared, and my screen was locked with 99MPH on the wind gauge, 9.6 inches of rain on the rain gauge history, and 27.8 on atmospheric pressure. I later found the remote unit about 200 yds from the house in terrible shape and kept as a souvenir next to a photo of the screen shot of the display on my shelf in my library/study.. Priceless.

A really nice system. I replaced an older version that was around 12 years old, but birds, squirrels, hail, and time had finally worn the outdoor unit out. After I installed the new outdoor unit I found that the old indoor monitor connected so I ended up with 2 monitors which was really nice. The calibration is fairly tedious but not too bad. I hope to get another 12 years out of this one as well.

When I programed the base unit and had the outdoor unit just feet away the humidity was different then the inside unit. Sometimes by as much as 5%. The temperature was usually within one of two degrees. The lighting detection appears to work fairly well. Overall I am happy with the performance of the unit for the cost.

Nice, with one superior flaw and that was the fact that the "Lightning Alarm Sound" CanNOT be disabled permanently. The first night that we had it (in December) this Alarm awakened us at 3:40 am because there were three lightning strikes 9 miles away, pretty cool during waking hours but we like to enjoy a full uninterrupted 6-8 hours of sleep each night & this thing was just way too annoying & inconvenient. I even contacted Acurite support but they were of No help. Apparently, you can disable the lightning alarm sound for just "hours" at a time but then you have to constantly mess around redoing it to disable the sound. It has been returned.

The amount of time the screen stays in a "readable" mode cannot be set by the consumer, at least it is not explained as part of the set up process. The time it stays bright enough to read the screen is too short to read anything. I purchased this model because I previously had the same manufacturer just an earlier version which was fine for about 5 years. Even when the screen is lit to read it, the colors are so light it is hard to distiguish the individual sections.

This is our 3rd in 10 years. I picked this one because it was an upgrade from out last AcuRite. The screen was stationary and it had the lightning detection. We installed it properly but the temperature is off, the rain gauge is really off and the lightning detector goes off all the time. If I turn my porch light on or off, it reads it as a lightning strike. On one sunny day we had over 375 lightning strikes. I finally took the batteries out and it sits on the corner table as a joke. I wish I could return it.
