Iris with lightning detection

I found it relatively easy to install the unit and set up the monitor, however I do not understand how the rain gauge part of it works. Does it empty or void the water itself every 24 hours? If so, at what time of day does it do this?

The Iris sensor features a self-emptying rain gauge. The tipping cup mechanism fills with water as it rains and empties once one side is full. One tip of the tipping cups records .01 inch of rain. The outside unit is fine. The indoor monitor is difficult to read. For seniors, the text and numbers need to be larger and able to be read from an angle. We do like the lightning strike feature as it lets us know how far a storm may be.

Impressive Weather System

Our old weather station, which served us faithfully for many years, is in comparison to this one a bit on the flimsy side. No offence to the old one but this new one seems built a bit sturdier. The display screen is much larger, easier to read, has more information on it and has its own stand. So far the readings have been accurite. We are off to a great start with no missgivings of our purchase. The set up was easy as it was positioned on the site of the previous system. The componets were all preasembled, it was just a matter of activating them. So far so good, praying now that it stays this way!

Tried multiple troubleshooting tactics. First, display showed temps and forecast correctly, no rain nor wind. Now the sensor cannot find the measuring device so that I do not even get that. I regret this purchase wholeheartedly.

We apologize that your station is experiencing an issue, but we are happy to assist! Please make sure that you are using fresh batteries in all three units, then perform the following hard reset. Please follow the steps carefully as the order is crucial to the success of the reset. Hard Reset: 1. Bring both the sensors and the display unit together and remove batteries from the outdoor sensor. Make sure that the Wireless Reception Indicator on the display drops to zero bars to ensure that your display was connected to the correct sensor. (If your wireless reception indicator already indicates zero bars, please proceed to Step #2.) NOTE: If your display unit continues to show a strong connection, there is another sensor in your area that your display is connecting to (either a neighbor's or from another of your AcuRite units). If you have multiple sensors, make sure to use a different ABC channel on each. 2. Remove the batteries and/or power adapter from the display unit. 3. Change the A-B-C setting on all units to a new, matching channel then press and hold the reset button in the battery compartment of the display for 20 seconds, if applicable. 4. Reinstall the batteries in the outdoor sensors. 5. Reinstall batteries and/or power cord into the display unit then immediately press and hold the reset button again for 20 seconds, if applicable. 6. Let the units sit within a couple of feet of each other for approximately 5 minutes or until you see a solid sensor signal. If the issue persists, please reach out to our support team via live chat or email request.
