I 've had a small SentrySafe for many years and had been very satisfied. The time has come to upgrade to a larger safe and after extensive reviews and comments about other company models at this price point, I selected the EF3428E. Very pleased with the construction and dealing with the SentrySafe organization. I saw other reviews that mention the inside lining was little loose. Mine was also, but this helped when I needed to lift it when bolting it down and running LED lighting. I just used a little contact cement when done and sealed it in place. Would buy again.

Ordered this office safe online for free pickup at my local Sams Club. Order was ready for pickup the next morning. Speedy checkout on their self-checkout lane. Took two of us to lift it into my truck. Well-packaged with reinforced bands; no damage to the safe when unpacked. The only caution I can give is be EXTREMELY careful when you grab the two shelves -- the felt covering DOES NOT wrap under the sheet metal shelf! Very sharp and you can slice your fingers!! The felt cover wraps under the front of the shelf cuz of the front facing, but not the back. Be very careful when you handle them. Quick fix-- I used duct tape the entire length of the back and front to cover the sharp edges; plus it adds extra taping to prevent the felt from ungluing in the future. Easy to enter your own combo code and easy to open with "church key" if batteries die on you. Plenty of space for jewelry & documents. Comes with hardware to bolt to concrete or wood. Excellent buy!

I bought this safe with the electronic keypad online and saved a bundle, although I went to the nearest Sams to see it in person first. The safe arrived within the shipping guidelines - about 6 days - not bad for holiday period. The delivery guy wheeled it right into the permanent location which was helpful. Hubby tested it a few times and then when he got the hang of it , he prepared to bolt it down to the concrete sub-floor with the bolts that came with it. They are a little tricky to get in because they are long and there was not much room to work in but once they were in, the bolts are not visible at all and it isn't going to be easy if anyone tried to yank it out! The safe opens quite easily, once you learn which way to turn the handle, and is quite spacious for the price. We chose to remove one of the shelves because we wanted to put some files in there in addition to the few trinkets we own. Great value!!

Safe has all the basic features that one might ask for in a safe. The only shortcoming we found was the shelves are weak and cannot hold much weight. Forget about storing coins on the shelves.

Only had safe for short period. I've had a couple of problems, but have resolved them. I had difficulty getting the battery cartridge back into the lock mechanism...small clip broke on first try...when setting up. Worked around the problem. Weather (water) strip around door makes closing a bit hard. Must be shut tightly to get lock handle into full "vertical" position to activate lock. Fit is very tight to provide water tightness I presume and may take more effort than some people would have to accomplish. Combination lock works well and having a factory pre-set (permanent) combination in addition to personal combo, is good idea. I used hex-head bolts and nuts to secure safe rather than the supplied lag-bolts. My choice though, either would work.. Set-up was pretty easy, but plastic parts are a concern. Lock mechanism must be removed in order to utilize 3-4 inch (backup) key. Haven't had to use key after initial set-up. All in all, it met my expectations and should provide very good security for price paid, but haven't yet had any attempt to break into it! DC

The unit has plenty of room and meets all my expectations. One minor issue, if you leave the door open for several days the gaskets expand requiring a lot of pressure on the door to close. If could be difficult for the wife to apply enough pressure to engage the lock completely. Solution is to always close and lock the door.

Keypad is very flimsy sometimes detaches when opening and closing. Hard to open and close some times.

I own 5 of these safes. The first 3 were a 3 star rating although customer support has always been poor. the newest ones are horrible. break and jam without little effort. strongly recommend against this product. im searching for an alternative

I purchased this safe 5 months ago. After 2 months I noticed that the door was a little finicky. The pins seemingly didn't align. 2 months later the lock wouldn't engage at all. This is apparently a very common malfunction. It's well documented on other sites. The locking pins are subject to bending/misalignment. In my case, they're bent every which way. Not sure why this product hasn't been pulled from the shelves. As part of the customer service process with Sentry Safe, they had me attempt a repair. I took the door panel off to find light gauge metal brackets holding the pins. The whole thing has buckled. I understand that you get what you pay for but offering a subpar product, when that product is meant to protect ones valuables, should not be an option. DO NOT BUY!!

As seen on many reviews from many different sites. This is not a trustworthy safe, After 3 years with this safe the handle completely stripped making it inoperable, unfortunately the safe was locked when this happened but I was able to pry the handle off and grab the gear wise vise grips and get the safe open. According to the warranty this type of malfunction is only covered in the first year. I have several other safes with the same style handle, some over 10years old and never had such problem. This is not a safe I would recommend. Spend the extra money and get something a little nicer.
