Customer reviews for LG 5.5 cu. ft. Top Load Washer with EasyUnload forAn unwashing machine
Since day 1 this machine has not cleaned well. We're always having to rewash clothes because some don't get rinsed well, some end up with a strong smell, and some simply don't get wet at all. We're using far more water and still don't have very clean clothes. Both times with help chat have taken hours and only gone through the same basic steps you find with a search online with zero results. The last time kept insisting I clean the machine to remove build up. We've had the machine for 3 months and it's never done the job. We're running cleaning tabs through the clean tub cycle and following the instructions for loads. Still mostly a waste of time and resources. Higher water bill, higher electricity bill, fewer wearable clothes and usable materials.

White washer/black top?? Why??
Why would someone want a two tone white washer??? The black lid and control panel is terrible! Smudges, shows each spec of lint and just looks cheap. Major fail. The aesthetics of this washer has me sadly considering a different brand.
Hi. Thank you for taking the time to share your review about your LG Top Load Washer, model WT8400CW. We hear your thoughts regarding the design layout and finish of the control areas, and we always aim to ensure our laundry appliance aesthetics and exterior finishes deliver the premium appearance and clean styling your home expects from our brand. To help keep your dark console and lid surfaces looking pristine and free of visible particles, we recommend wiping down the exterior panels regularly using a slightly damp, soft microfiber cloth without any harsh abrasive cleansers, which helps eliminate surface static that attracts fibers from the air. It is also beneficial to dry the areas completely with a clean cloth immediately after cleaning to prevent water marks or residue from setting onto the dark trim elements. We want to help ensure your laundry setup looks and performs beautifully for your household. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further support. ^James
Not great
Horrible. The little spin thing is not strong enough to clean anything. I would be better off spinning it by hand. I’ve uploaded a video for yall to see
Hi. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG WT8400CB Washer. When the drum doesn’t seem to spin with enough power, it can sometimes be tied to load balance, items getting tangled, or the washer sensing an uneven distribution and reducing spin speed to protect the motor. Making sure the load is evenly spread out and not overfilled can help the washer reach full spin. You can also review our guide on resolving spin issues here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-washer-troubleshooting-washing-machine-drum-not-spinning--20150584818000 If you’d like us to take a closer look at your video or continue assisting, feel free to email us at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. Too many reasons to avoid...
I have two major complaints about this washer. #1. The lid. Yes, the lid that opens and closes on the top of the unit. Whomever thought it was a good idea to put this at an angle is a moron. It may look appealing in a show room but its unbelievably impractical in the home. You'll instinctively try and put things on top of your washer and they will stay there just long enough for you to walk away. Then, whatever you put there will topple off. The glass lid is also super easily scratched and appears dirty often - even with frequent cleaning. #2. The features (in general). You cant change the default water temp to cold. You cant disable to auto lock feature that stays on after the wash cycle is complete. And the integration with the app (which you'll want for "delicate", "small load", and other washing options) requires you to enable the washer to start based on the app's directive. Turbo wash (another default) is super effective for washing rugs, for example, but will easily ruin clothes items and will make brand new Bombas socks pill. The positives: the capacity is huge (great for bedding), its affordable, and you can change the dig when the cycle finishes to sound like a Beethoven song....if you ever wish to annoy your spouse a little ;) Would NOT purchase again.
Hello, Bruce. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG Washer. The way you laid out your thoughts on the lid design, the feature limitations, and how certain cycle defaults affect your laundry routine gives a very clear picture of what you’ve been dealing with, and your detailed breakdown is genuinely helpful for us to review. Your notes on the positives—especially the capacity and the customizable chime—add great context as well. To allow us to properly investigate the details of your specific product model and to see if there is anything we can do to assist with this usability‑related issue being encountered, please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further assistance. Worse products ever. Do better LG!
I bought this within the past 2 months and I've never been so disappointed with an LG product as I am in this washer / dryer set. I only ever use the recommended liquid laundry detergent and fabric softener that is allowed in the drawer yet when my clothes have been washed and I take them out they're completely covered in fabric softener still. I then have to rinse my clothes again. Honestly LG what are you thinking putting your name to this garbage. Between the washer not completely washing my clothes I am then faced with damp clothes coming from the dryer 😞 I end up having to finish drying denims using a clothes rack. You can do better than this! I've purchased lots of LG products and this pair of appliances is your worst to date!
We’re really sorry to hear about your experience — this is definitely not what we want for our customers, especially those who have trusted LG products in the past. Issues with detergent dispensing, wash performance, and incomplete drying are frustrating, and we understand your disappointment. We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback, as it helps us improve. We’d like the opportunity to look into this further and help resolve the concerns with both the washer and dryer. Please contact LG Customer Support at 1-888-542-2623, Monday–Sunday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, so our team can review your situation and explore possible solutions.
Horrible all around
Worst washer I have ever owned and the dryer that goes with it is just as bad. This washer has RUINED at least 10 items of clothing. There is no way to fix or recover these items. They came out of the load looking tie dyed. I tried switching detergents, using only clear products and that didn't work. I cannot wash anything that is new and/or white without it getting destroyed. I have had this unit barely over a year. I will never purchase LG again and I'm counting down the days until I can afford to dump this and buy a new one.

Shredded my towels after 1 wash
This washing machine shredded my towels after 1 wash. I used a download cycle, full load, extra rinse and medium spin. I am not impressed. I had a 20 year old whirlpool and this never happened.

We understand your disappointment given your previous washer performed well for many years. Thank you for sharing this with us. Clean and quiet with soap dispenser issue
The washer works well and quiet. They only drawback, is the detergent (liquid) does not dispense all of the detergent. After every load, there is residual detergent and water left in the dispenser.
Hi! We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG Washer. It’s great hearing that it’s working well for you and running quietly in your home. Your note about residual liquid detergent in the dispenser is truly helpful feedback and will be shared with the team.
