[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased and used last weekend - lawn about 10,000 ft2. The broadcast range is fine and the range of settings was excellent. My first experience was spreading pelletized lime. I'll be top seeding this weekend so it'll be interesting to see how the finer settings work for grass seed. The EdgeGuard setting will be great for dropping weed killer later on - it allows you to shut off the spreader on one side. The control connections work well but seem a little on the flimsy side. Again, time will tell how they hold up!

After being disappointed with the performance/quality of a new Scott's Classic Drop Spreader, I purchased what I thought was an upgrade with their best broadcast spreader, the Scott's Pro. I do not believe the application settings are accurate (control wheel does not lock positively on the setting number) as I ran out of product with several thousand sq. feet remaining. Additionally, the slide control in the bottom of the hopper does not always close when the activation handle is released, either due to the weight of the product in the hopper or granules in the slide mechanism-either way, a poorly functioning mechanism that allows product to continue leaking through. Lastly, the product application is "heavy" toward the left side and makes for uneven application. I may continue to use Scott's fertilizers, but I am done with their poorly designed/cheaply made spreaders and returned it for a refund. Very disappointed with Scott's "new" products as I had a their Precision Flow all-steel drop spreader that served me well for 20+ years.

It does not evenly spread fertilizer. It is causing streaking. First time the streaking occurred, I thought it was my fault. However, applied second treatment, same thing occurred. I've used a Scotts rotary spreader for over 35 years and never had this issue. Very disappointed. I'm hoping I can get a refund. Won't be using it again.

Pro: rubber tires, holds a lot of product, easy to push Con: cheaply made, the plastic switch for the edgeguard for off/on broke, doesn't spread evenly ( walking the spreader throws out the product more and further to the left and hardly anything to the right.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I borrowed my neighbor's Pro edge guard spreader since my son had my Scotts spreader. It was so easy to push with air filled tires. The edge guard also worked well. The thing I liked best was it kept my socks clean. In the past my socks caught fertilizer color and probably Bad stuff from Pesticides I use to kill grubs. I always showered right after using my Speedy green 3000 just in case. This Pro Edge Guard was a big leap forward.

I have used this spreader with Scotts fertilizer and it worked for one year. I had the best lawn on the block for one year. Unfortunately, I am in my second year and the last few times I have to inflate the tire every 30 minutes to ensure it is at the fullest pressure or it will not spread properly. Despite this, we have uneven fertilization but more importantly it is leaving burn spots which never happened the first year - same Scott fertilizer amount. Tried another fertilizer brand for the front yard and had same result so confirmed that the spreader is not long lasting. If you want something for one year go for it.

I've had several Scott spreaders over the years. They all have a weak point in their design and construction, inadequate quality plastic parts that break way before they should. I'm giving up on Scott now, even their Pro model suffers the same problem.

Same issue as Mike 48393. Spent more expecting higher quality spreader. Took good care of it, worked well for a few years, then plastic axle hub broke today. Broken part made of cheap plastic. Expected more from Pro level spreader. Owned about 4 years, used about 6 times per year.

Poor design compared to older models. Nobody builds things like they used to. Made it 10 feet and wheels fell off. Took it back to the store for refund. They threw it in the trash. Such a poor design. Wish I hadn't given my son in law my speedy green 3000

This product has almost ALL PLASTIC inside. This it my second Scotts spreader. I have approx 1 AC of lawn. I spread lime each year. It claims to hold 1 bag but the spreader inside wheel/agitator is not firm/strong enough to get thru the pellets and breaks. Went onto website & could not find repair parts, seems unavailable have to buy a new one. It does a great job with light stuff like seed but not anything more substantial.Tires are good idea. Buying any competitor is CHEAPER at almost any price due to breakdown/replacement/aggravation cost. Just make sure inside is NOT PLASTIC. Will NEVER buy again.
