With the edge guard turned off, this spreader sent about 70% of the seeds to the left side and about 30% to the right. I tried adjusting the edge guard, but this only locked up the entire edge guard system completely. I returned it to the store only to be told that such an uneven distribution is typical of these spreaders. Okay, whatever. Don't waste your time and money. I get better dispersion (in a shorter amount of time) with a hand-held spreader. I will not be purchasing anymore Scott's products, as they simply don't live up to my expectations.

It does not evenly spread fertilizer. It is causing streaking. First time the streaking occurred, I thought it was my fault. However, applied second treatment, same thing occurred. I've used a Scotts rotary spreader for over 35 years and never had this issue. Very disappointed. I'm hoping I can get a refund. Won't be using it again.

Pro: rubber tires, holds a lot of product, easy to push Con: cheaply made, the plastic switch for the edgeguard for off/on broke, doesn't spread evenly ( walking the spreader throws out the product more and further to the left and hardly anything to the right.

I have used the Scotts Pro Edgeguard twice. Each time it does not disperse the fertilizer evenly. Within a week or two after application, there are dark green stripes in the yard. It appears more fertilizer is being dropped in the center of the "spreader disk". I don't know if something is preventing the fertilizer from casting out instead of "dropping". I have had better luck with the small basic model. no striping.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I borrowed my neighbor's Pro edge guard spreader since my son had my Scotts spreader. It was so easy to push with air filled tires. The edge guard also worked well. The thing I liked best was it kept my socks clean. In the past my socks caught fertilizer color and probably Bad stuff from Pesticides I use to kill grubs. I always showered right after using my Speedy green 3000 just in case. This Pro Edge Guard was a big leap forward.

Poor design compared to older models. Nobody builds things like they used to. Made it 10 feet and wheels fell off. Took it back to the store for refund. They threw it in the trash. Such a poor design. Wish I hadn't given my son in law my speedy green 3000

It's a good spreader but the pneumatic wheels are awesome. they made it very easy to push over uneven terrain. The edgeguard works great too, no more sweeping up when I'm done. I'm sorry I didn't switch over and DIY sooner. Good spreader! Plus it has that Scotts warranty on it...

I bought this a few months ago from a local home improvement store. The spreader didn't perform all that well when it did. Furthermore, the plastic shaft has failed like others have mentioned. This spreader was definitely not worth the money it cost and i am outside of the return window at the retailer.

Same issue as Mike 48393. Spent more expecting higher quality spreader. Took good care of it, worked well for a few years, then plastic axle hub broke today. Broken part made of cheap plastic. Expected more from Pro level spreader. Owned about 4 years, used about 6 times per year.

I have used this spreader with Scotts fertilizer and it worked for one year. I had the best lawn on the block for one year. Unfortunately, I am in my second year and the last few times I have to inflate the tire every 30 minutes to ensure it is at the fullest pressure or it will not spread properly. Despite this, we have uneven fertilization but more importantly it is leaving burn spots which never happened the first year - same Scott fertilizer amount. Tried another fertilizer brand for the front yard and had same result so confirmed that the spreader is not long lasting. If you want something for one year go for it.
