Don't buy this it's literally designed to break after about a year or two. The arm rests are attacked to the chair by what basically amounts to a wooden plug that's not attached to anything but the arm rest. The stitching is literally designed to give way over time and there's even a pullable plastic tab near the back of the arm rest that's designed to tear the stitching and it serves no other purpose. Eventually what you'll be left with is a big gaping hole in the side of the back of your chair where, it will begin with the arm supports feeling just slightly loose then one day it will just rip open. You may even be physically injured by it. This could have very easily have been prevented by attaching the wooden plug to the plank that braces the back of the chair instead of simply having it float in the stuffing of the chair, this is a hidden weakness in the design of a chair that's made to only APPEAR sturdy.

I bought the chair and have been happy with it except the back of the chair was torn when it was shipped to me. I contacted the 1-800 number, and they promptly sent me another back for the cair. Unfortunately, it was the wrong back to the chair, and it comes with NO INSTALLATION instructions. I called and emailed the lady who first helped me, with no luck in reaching her. FINALLY, I was able to speak with Andrea, a senior customer service representative, and she said the original person no longer worked there, and she had sent me the wrong back. Andrea promptly sent me the correct back, which I have received, however, once again, no instructions for replacement of the old back. I contacted Andrea once again, and she says there are no instructions but its really easy to do. I asked her to send me a pic of it being done, and nothing so far. She also said to dispose of the back they initially sent me (brand new) and the old one as they don't want them back. What a waste! I just got off the phone with the La-Z-Boy store here and they wwere rude, telling me basically to take it back to where I bought it, and have them repair it! Obviously, Sams doesn't have a repair department.... Like I said, I love the chair but the customer service so far, hasn't been good.. Any help would be appreciated.

This chair was a gift for my husband who just retired. He loves it. He's a big guy who deserves comfort. I'm so happy I came across this beautiful chair. The price was great. The chair is cushioned very well. And was easy to put together..thinking of getting one for me..

I saw this chair at sams and tried it out, it was so comfortable so I thought I'd give it a chance and ordered it online. I made the right decision, because this chair does everything that I've been looking for in a desk chair. It's roomy, the seat is perfectly padded, the color is nice and the support is just right for me. The Serta I had was $400 and a compete waste of money, though the seat was cushioned the rest of the chair ( including the adjustable arms which always fell off) was garbage. This lazy boy lives up to the standards so far and I am really happy with it. I almost think I should buy another and keep it in the box for when this one needs replacement. I highly recommend this chair if your looking for a large chair that doesn't slide you into the floor and offers comfort.

I just received my La-Z-Boy office chair today. It was the easiest chair assembly I have experienced. So much so, it was almost a joy. It is the most comfortable office chair I have ever sat in. If it is like all the other La-Z-Boy chairs I've had, it will give me years and years of use.

The Alston is of very poor quality for a La-Z-Boy product. Come to find out it is actually made in China by True Innovations for La-Z-Boy. The size is appropriate for a big and tall chair. At 6 ft. 220 lbs., the chair is almost too big for me. However, the seat cushion is made of cheap low-density foam causing me to bottom out even at my weight. Feels like I am sitting on a board. My old worn out Serta seat cushion did not flatten out like this one. I would return except I am in process of returning another chair that was too small but provided way better support. Hopefully the memory foam cushion I am buying will make this chair usable. I will be reluctant to buy any La-Z-Boy products after this.

First, I'll say that this chair seems well built. It's very easy to assemble (don't even need any tools), and the 10 year warranty is a pretty big selling point, since most chairs I've looked at/tried only have 1 year (if that). However, it's not very comfortable for me. I've tried a lot of chairs in stores in an attempt to find one that's comfortable. I'm 6'2", and apparently they don't make chairs for people of that height. Most of the chairs I sit in are immediately uncomfortable, but even those that aren't uncomfortable right away become uncomfortable after sitting in them for a while. So I figured I'd take a chance on this chair (even though I couldn't try it in store first) based on the numerous reviews that talked about how comfortable it is, and the fact that it even looks very fluffy/comfy. Unfortunately, that's not the case. While it does have a higher back than other chairs I've tried (including a gaming chair I returned because the "headrest" pushed into my upper back), the lumbar support is lacking and I've had to use a small pillow at my lower back to compensate. That's not so big of a deal, but the real issue is the front of the seat. It is stiffer and larger than the rear part of the seat (which is comfortable) and so it pushes against the bottom of my legs while I sit. After a while, that gets pretty annoying. At this point, I'm hoping that it "breaks in" eventually and becomes more pliable and less uncomfortable, but for now, I'll just have to deal with it. I can't seem to find any chairs that aren't a pain to sit in.

Husband--big & tall--loves it. But you don't have to be big & tall for it to be suitable for you if you're average size man. I smaller wife feel very comfortable in it. There is generous padding, easy adjustment features, rolls around smoothly on 5 spokes (safer for balance than on 4).. The bonded leather is deep rich brown color, no flaws. All around a great purchase. Very pleased and thanks to Sam's for carrying it in inventory.

I've been using this chair for a year, and I've fallen back twice, randomly, without doing anything that would obviously cause a person to fall back in their chair, like tilting the chair back beyond its design, so the wheels come off the ground. The first time could've been a fluke, but the second time - it's the chair. The base just happened to be oriented in a way that made it more susceptible to tipping, which shouldn't even be a thing. Perhaps the base needs to be longer, heavier, and or have an additional wheel. I'm about 230lbs. I chose this chair, for the headroom in its capacity to handle my weight. Thankfully, I only got a little bump. I wouldn't recommend this chair for fear that someone else may get hurt worse.

I went thru 3 different chairs and had to take each one back to office store, I finally sat in this and was hesitant because of the price but it was well worth the extra dollars compared to the others I have tried. You get what you pay for. Got this on sale 40 dollars off
