Not overly impressed!
I have had my second Dyson now for about 3-4 months. 1 thing that is great is the suction, other than that I could leave it! Too heavy, doesn't fit under anything, doesn't like to stay locked in upright position because the ball is too big, not easy to take apart and put back together, very awkward on stairs when using the attachment, I could go on but why.
Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you're not having a better experience with your Ball Animal Complete 3. It's unusual to hear that it isn't staying locked into the upright position for you. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place. We would be happy to help troubleshoot any other issues that you're having. Feel free to contact us directly via email at askdysonUS@dyson.com. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
hard to push tools are not interchangable
My old dyson animal died after 11 years of service. I bought this one because purple is out of stock. This is one is extremely difficult to push. I also own a cannister. The accessories are NOT interchangable. very disappointed because I loved my old dyslon
Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to learn that you've found the Ball Animal 3 hard to push. Your machine features an Anti-tangle Motorbar™ cleaner head, with suction control. The three levels of suction are controlled by the slider on the front of the cleaner head. Slide the suction control to suit the floor type. If you are having trouble pushing your machine, try the suction mode on the left. Depending on which older model Dyson you own, some of the tools or attachments may not be compatible. We'd be happy to help answer any other questions or concerns you have on using your machine. Feel free to get in touch with us at askdysonUS@dyson.com. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
So far so good
So far so good. I have a dog and my house gets messy. Many vacuums I've tried clog up easy with hair, or just don't have the suction and long life. I've only had this vacuum a couple months, but so far I am overall impressed and hopeful it lasts a long time. My only critique is the collection bin is too small in my opinion for the amount this vacuum picks up on the floor. I definitely think the capacity should be dramatically increased for the power and capabilities of this vacuum.
Hate It!
I've only had this for 2 days now and I hate it. It's SO hard to push! I've tried adjusting every setting possible, including the one for floor height (hard/plush). It is easy to push on the wood floor, but does not pick up tiny bits of dry dog food.

Great Vacuum However there is an issue
This is our second Dyson Vac and it does a great job, the only complaint is the amount of suction on carpet and it is very difficult to push. Our old Vac was never that way and my wife will not use it on carpet because of the that. On hard surface floors there is no issue.
Best vacuum I’ve ever used
We bought our first Dyson refurbished and loved it for two years, came back for our second and decided it was time for a “new” one since we fell in love with our Dyson ball 2. Then Dyson had to show me the animal 3….hands down THE BEST vacuum I have ever used, the price tag hurt a little, you know, because it’s a vacuum, but it was worth every single penny! 10/10 will buy another when this one eventually dies too. I’d like to think I won’t have carpet much longer, but I’ll gladly keep it with this awesome machine around!
Very happy with this purchase.
I really love this vacuum. It is my first Dyson and I can't believe the suction. I will admit it is heavy and I am 66 years old, but it is worth it to have the amazing suction. I have not used the attachments yet, so I can't comment on them. But it is very easy to empty the canister and I have not had a problem with it going everywhere. I hold it over my trashcan, push the button and it dumps out. I have two dogs, so lots of hair!
Almost as good as my ancient DC07
After almost 11 months of usage, I am very pleased with the Animal Complete's performance. Just like its predecessor, a 2007 DC07 that I repaired myself every few years until it died in January 2023, the Animal is able to handle the dirt, hay, etc, that our boots bring in from daily farm work, as well as the copious amounts of hair from a Golden Retriever, a silky Calico, and my waist-length hair. I vacuum from one end of the house to the other, dumping the bin twice, reverse course, vacuum in the opposite direction and dump the bin one more time. It revived the texture of my old carpet. Pros: -Suction is outstanding. -Hair never tangles on the brush roller -Many useful attachments -Can recline to vacuum under most furniture -Ideal for vacuuming medium pile carpet or vinyl. -Great maneuverability for zipping around corners -So easy to clean brush roller housing when something gets lodged - Long cord Cons: -Feels a bit too delicate when compared to my DC07 -Placing the power-button next to the roll brush button causes them to hook onto each other occasionally, making it difficult to turn either on or off. (Was easier on the old unit with the brush engagement on the vacuum head.) -Like other reviewers note, the vinyl/tile setting is unusable. If a floor is even slightly out of level, the vacuum sucks to the flooring and can only be moved by turning off the unit. -Returning hose to its cradle can be tricky at times; not as smooth as the DC07 I use the Animal Complete 1-2 times a week in my 950 sq ft house and highly recommend the model to others. I tried numerous brands before Dyson came into existence, but the DC07 and the Animal are the only vacuums able to conquer everything our farm can throw at our carpet. I will remain a Dyson devotee until they discontinue corded uprights.
After 6 months of use
Bought this in October 2022. Having a Shiba Inu and a Tabby cat, it’s an amazing vacuum at picking up animal fur with ease. When I first vacuumed my apartment with this, I had to empty the dirt container twice before all the dust, dirt and fur wasn’t piled up. I vacuum pretty much everyday with this thing and, like you’d expect from a Dyson, it leaves no dirt, dust or fur behind. Although, being 5’2 and 155 pds, this thing is heavy. It gets a little easier to handle after having used it so much, but it doesn’t get any lighter. Especially after a long day and already being tired as it is. The cord also gets annoying… there’s no ease in having to move around with it plugged in. Vacuuming with the hose with the wand/attachments can also be annoying (though if you can ignore the awkwardness of it all, it does vacuum everything up). It’s rigid and if you don’t maneuver your way correctly, the vacuum can fall or tilt over as your trying to vacuum utilizing the hose. I didn’t get the wireless dysons bcuz of reviews of them dying at full power after 30 mins.. and the truth is that I don’t know if I’d recommend this particular product or not… it has its pros and cons. Since I spent the money on it, I’m definitely going to be keeping it until it’s dead and it’s warranty runs out, but if you’re on the fence and you’re looking for something with power and ease of use/maneuverability - don’t buy this one.
Best Vacuum I Have Ever Owned
My last vacuum was 15yrs old and falling apart. I was hesitant about spending a lot on a new vacuum but after the reviews and other family members who owned a Dyson for years, I decided to get this during the sale. This vacuum sucked up so much dirt/dust/hair in one clean sweep in the entire house. I couldn’t believe how dirty my carpet/area rugs and hardwood floors were! The hose extension is stiff, but with time it’ll loosen up. I’ve even cleaned my sofa with the attachments and works awesome! I’m hoping this will help with my hubbys allergies knowing this vacuum throughly cleans!
