As a vacuum cleans very good; however is very hard to push. This is our third Dyson vacuum and while it cleans the best is very hard to push and maneuver. My wife (who is 83) does not like it and wants to go back to our last one; which we still have

I was excited to replace my old Dyson Animal that I have had for about 13 years. It still works fine, but the latch to keep it upright broke along with a few other issues, nothing major. I bought the new Dyson Ball Animal 3 and I relegated the old one to use in the basement. I have used the new one for 5 to 6 weeks now. The first issue was the difficulty pushing it. The suction is great but is too much for ease of movement. Do not buy if you have lower back issues like sciatica. I have to say it has gotten slightly easier the more I vacuum. I just finished doing the stairs and am very disappointed with the struggle. The hose is not flexible at all. It is too tight and works against you. There is no stability. I suppose you could have someone hold the vacuum in place while you vacuum. It should not take 2 people to clean the staircase. The cord length is awesome but it should start at the top (a hook or clip) for ease of use. It is great on bare floors. It works very well as far as dirt collection on carpets, however, it is extremely hard to push no matter which setting I use. I feel very bad about recommending this to my daughter who has been fighting several forms of cancer for 5 years. We are both stuck with vacuums that make us want to scream.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! This Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum has the strongest suction of any upright vacuum we've seen, to-date. The three cleaning modes on the head of the vacuum simplify the cleaning process and work wonders on their prospective flooring. Truly, hard floors (hardwood, tile, etc..), carpets all feel so much cleaner when walking barefoot, almost like they were mopped or professionally cleaned. It feels insane to say, but true. Our kids love this vacuum and how clean the floors feel under their feet. They actually ask to vacuum, now (What?, exactly!). The extra long cord is a timesaver too, definitely a plus. Oh, and pet/long hair and/or small strings tangled around the vacuum brush bar are a thing of the past. Amazing! No more, detangling. Absolutely wonderful and timesaving, Thank You, Dyson! While vacuuming we came across a few initial challenges (3). First, we noticed the function of the hose configuration is different from the older upright Dyson vacuums we are used to. No worries, we quickly figured it out over several uses (of course, the kids were faster, no surprise there). Next, we noticed the vacuum head (that includes the de-tangling technology) no longer fits under some of our furniture and appliances. The timesaving and hassle freeness of no longer turning the vacuum over and using scissors or whatever to untangle the brush bar is amazing, and definitely worth the sacrifice of not fitting under a few pieces of furniture and a couple appliances. Last, was the size and weight of the vacuum, definitely bigger and heavier than our previous Dyson vacuums. While still offering the continued ease of use, Dyson has mastered, in addition to much better effectiveness in cleaning far outweighs any differences in size and weight. In conclusion, we happily recommend this Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum with 5 stars. Outperformed all expectations and more. Thank you, Dyson!

I have an older Dyson Canister that is still working (and working pretty well), but I wanted to add an upright to my cleaning arsenal. As for the cleaning that this one does - WOW. Other users have noted that it takes some "pushing" - and that's accurate. But I'll take that as a trade-off for the extra dirt it collects, and boy does it. Now, the bad: 1) No onboard storage . . . not even for your favorite one or two tools (and the bag is mediocre, too (no way to close it)). The cord is a wrap up? Ok . . . I mean, I guess. But here's the kicker - IF YOU WANT TO USE THE HOSE, YOU HAVE TO COMPLETELY UNWRAP THE CORD! It's an absurd design choice. I'm on the fence at this point. For the amount I paid (even during the Holiday sales), it really shouldn't be so clunky to use. It's very "un-Dyson" in this way.

While the vacuum does its job, very well I might add. My only grievance is that when I have the vacuum upright to roll to bring to next location or to put away. The wheels constantly fall down to put the brushes down making it difficult to maneuver. I’m not sure if this is how it’s designed or if I got one that doesn’t lock fully. It is just very frustrating. I’d recommend if they fixed this issue. But I can’t on good conscience knowing this major flaw.

First off it really has good suction. The wand and hose are very awkward to use and getting it back in place is not any easier. The last time I used it I had my wife figure it out. It doesn't have a very wide swath and it doesn't seem to fluff my carpet like my old machine. It does seem to work well for long hair with no wrapping. Overall not a bad unit, price is a bit high.

Decided that it's time to pay the price and get a Dyson, but little did I know that I'll end up being very disappointed with my purchase. After using it once to clean a NYC apartment, this is what I think: - a chore became a workout - the vacuum is really heavy, takes a strong arm, even on hardwood floors. I'm saying this as a still active athlete. - hard to maneuver, I feel like I got the hang of it after an hour or so, but I still don't find it easy enough - the combination of weight and tricky maneuverability puts a lot of stress on the handle, which is quite flimsy, I don't know how long it'll last before it breaks (at least it can be bought separately, out of stock at the moment, though) - using the hose is the most frustrating thing. The spring inside the hose is too strong, which makes it almost impossible to extend it without the vacuum trying to follow the hose a moment after it's extended. Maybe the spring will loosen up a bit, but my experience was infuriating. - in order to clean under the bed & sofa, will need to purchase an additional tool (Articulating hard floor tool) which is out of stock at the moment. The tools that come with the machine and the Allergy Cleaning Kit are't articulated so it's impossible to have them flush with the floor when the wand is close to being held horizontally The only positive I can find for now is that it did a good job on the rugs, hence the 2 stars. Given all this, I'm seriously considering returning it.

The Dyson was very easy to assemble, taking about 5-10 minutes to completely assemble. It was immediately used in our living room area. We had just vacuumed the area less than 12 hours prior to the Dyson being delivered; and I was amazed the amount of dirt that was pulled from the carpet. I would highly recommend this product. It does an amazing job!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the previous models of Dyson that includes the Animal Ball( purple) and Dyson Ball MultiFloor Upright Vacuum: High Performance with a HEPA Filter. Both were outstanding machines that made cleaning far more satisfying…But this Dyson Ball Animal 3 with attachments takes cleaning to the next level. It’s more light and agile than the previous models,yet the smaller head allows you to get in the nooks and crannies much easier. We find the wand to have much more suctioning power to aid us in vacuuming our stairs and we look forward to using the pet groomer with our two large dogs. We have been trying to find the right combination of treats to persuade them to cooperate. It’s a great model I would highly recommend,5 Stars ⭐️

Have owned this vacuum for 2 ish months. Overall a good vacuum. The hose is stiff and doesn’t like to say extended but hopefully with time it will relax a bit. The exhaust does run very hot when using. My previous vacuum would blow a bit warm with use but this one blows HOT air out which I did not expect but doesn’t harm the unit itself. The articulating floor tool is handy if you have a lot of hard flooring/hard to reach areas or if you don’t want to push the vacuum itself across your floors.
