Odd persistent odor & heating challenge

I really wanted to love this pizza oven. It was a great sale price so I thought I'd give it a try. I found it difficult to find the right setting to ensure both the top and bottom of the pizza were cooked at the same time. The top, not matter how thin the crust, always had burnt edges. The most concerning part is that the oven gave the pizza an odd odor and taste. I thought it was because the appliance was new but this happened over and over again.

GREAT FOR PIZZA LOVERS!!

Piezano Pizza Oven, 12", is a gem for the pizza lover. Yes, the pizza size is small and that is a drawback; however, 5 minutes or less to be fully cooked is priceless. I cooked 3 pizzas over the course of 1 week, and there is a learning curve. The instructions and YouTube videos are most helpful. Despite reading reviews before my purchase, the 1st pizza did cause cleaning issues on the lid. My 2nd and 3rd pizza did not; learning curve. Roll out your dough on a counter, then place it on the lightly floured paddle before adding the toppings. Create a lip around the pizza, so the cheese doesn't spill out over the edge when melted. Do not try to cover the whole paddle. The pizza will be too big for the stone, and the lid will overlap the dough. Do not submerge the pizza stone in water; follow the simple cleaning instructions. I included pictures of my 3rd pizza. PS I used a focaccia recipe for the dough, and my pizza was closest to NY styles than I have ever achieved in the past. Give yourself time to master the use of your Piezano. You won't be disappointed. PS The cord is too short. DO NOT be tempted to use an extension cord or a power strip. The fire potential for high powered products is greater when not plugged directly into an outlet.

DON'T BUY IT

The first time I used it, it smoked up my whole house. I washed and dried everything before using it. My house smelled burnt for about three days. It was awful. The pizza I made didn't look burned, but it tasted the same way my house smelled. It came with a light grey pizza stone that turned black. Afterwards I read other reviews that had the same complaint. In my opinion - you're better off googling recipes for making pizza in a cast iron skillet. That has gone so much better for me.

Very disappointed

Frozen pizza has to be thawed first. Thick crust gets burnt. I was duped by a FB ad for this. They showed a frozen pizza going on and coming out perfect in 5 minutes.. false advertising! When the frozen didn’t work we tried our own homemade and it rose up and stuck to the lid. Very disappointing. Also gets very VERY hot, I didn’t feel safe using it on my counter. I put it on my stove. The temperature wasn’t anything to do with my review more of a warning.

Arrived Safe and Sound

So happy to get my pizza oven, I have been eyeing the oven for a while. I was thinking of get a gas powered oven. However the added work of getting propane and setup time was a turnoff for me. This oven is very compact and easy to use. It takes some practice to dail in the pizza.

Nice indoor unit with dual controls

Bought this as a replacement for outdoor propane one. Cooked with it the other night and made 4 x individual pizzas. My only complaint is transferring the dough to the stone, as it sticks and stretches while you are placing it on. Great thing about this unit is you can control both bottom and top heat individually. So I put the dough on the bottom and add the fixings while it cooks to give it a head start and then close the lid and let the top cook. It worked great and gave the toppings a nice bubbly crusty cheese without burning.

Works well with 1 minor flaw

I like that I don't have to heat up my entire oven to make a pizza. The piezano heated up to 800 degrees and held the temperature okay after opening. It dropped off about 50 degrees, but came back up quickly. The only reason I docked a star was because the top doesn't cook evenly due to the way the upper heating element is shaped. The front half cooked way faster than the back half. I had to open and turn the pizza while cooking it to accommodate this. Not really what you want to do with this type of pizza oven.

Excitedness ends in disappointment

Disappointed with how long it takes to figure out the set up and usage of it. Certain ingredients cook better than others and some just gunk up the who thing but they give no recommendation of what to use. Also it doesnt tell you about plastic wrapping hidden out of sight. If you dont take it off the firstb15-20 pizzas taste like plastic.

Waste of time and money

Total disaster and waste of money. TV commercial shows deep dish pizza but no recipe or instructions given. I used the same ingredients I have been using for years and the unit could not cook through without smoking and burning bottom of dough and top of pepperoni. Never cooked through and had to transfer to conventional oven to finish. Left with baked on dough and cheese requiring over an hour to clean.

The pizza oven is great! It heats up relatively quickly and cooks as needed. If you get one and you make your own dough, I recommend placing the pizza on parchment paper, insert the pizza, with the paper onto the hot stone until the dough cooks enough so as not to stick to the stone. the pizza can then easily slide directly onto the stone. The pizza will cook as desired and you'll have a great meal! The only negative are the two small pizza slides. a single large slide is what it needs.
