Outstanding Sound Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Flex Live earbuds have exception sound quality. Whether you listen to country, Rap, R&B, Metal, etc...there is plenty of bass and treble. You can always adjust the bass or treble through the JBL Equalizer. The sound quality is truly the best thing about these earbuds. The second best thing is the adaptive noise cancellation. A tap on the left earbud drowns out all external noise allowing you to hear the crisp clean music. The earbuds a light weight and easy to put in the ear canal. Here is where there is an issue for me... the Live Flex earbuds don't fit well in my ears, in fact, I gave these to my wife because they fit perfectly in her ears, allowing her to take full advantage of all the features for extended durations at the gym. While trying these on, I was able to test receiving calls and the voice is very clear. The other feature I like is how small the case is. For its small palm size, it holds about 40 hours of play time, very impressive. We have gone days without charging the case. For these to be perfect, I would need a slightly bigger size to stay in my ear while working out, cycling, or on the elliptical.

Great product held back by comfort issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was intrigued by the Live Flex because it's rare to see ear buds with no silicone tip. I don't think I have ever seen them with active noise cancelling (ANC) before. The promise of crystal clear phone calls was a bonus because this is typically where true wireless (TW) buds have failed me. This review will focus on those differentiators which make the Live Flex standout in a crowded category. First the ANC. It is important to remember without silicone tips you do not have good sound isolation. No amount of ANC will change that. If you want to be totally immune to your surroundings these are not for you. However, the ANC works surprisingly well. I wore them for several full days of working from home. They did not have a huge impact there because the majority of the noise is from my children's mouths. Children talking has never been a strong point for ANC. I also wore them in a busy commuter train to NYC. Here the ANC was much more impactful. I stopped using my other TW buds when I commute because I had to listen at such high volumes on the train. These solve for that beautifully. I imagine they would be ok on a plane, but I'll still always prefer an over the ear option in the air. the calls were noticeably clearer than any other TW buds I have ever used. I conducted about 20 hours of zoom and Google meet meetings with no complaints. A huge win for travel. Sound is great. Vocals come through clear. The bass is impressively present. Even booming during heavier tracks. I listen to a wide range of music from punk rock to hardstyle and these didn't feel like wearing an audio sacrifice. That is a common problem with any type of in ear option and I felt perfectly content with these. Comfort is where I took away a star. I was super excited for the design, but they started to feel uncomfortable where the top of the bud meets the inside of my (ear bowl?). After about 75-90 minutes the discomfort predictably sets in. It's minor discomfort, but rules out the possibility of these being the only headphones I travel with.

Lightweight & Comfort

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These earbuds are LIGHT! I have been using these headphones for a few weeks and I am always surprised by how light they are. These sit nicely in the cup of my ear without being too intrusive to my ear canal. I have been wearing these predominately when working out at the gym. The only time that I they have come out of my ear was when removing my sweatshirt and knocking them out. I have done various cardio machines and weight training without issue. I have not had issues with these falling out when bench pressing, which is surprising given how they sit in my ears. The sound is good, but I have had to set the volume just a little louder than my previous headphones. The pairing as with all of the JBL products that I had is a breeze and I enjoy having the lights at the front of the clamshell case when charging, allowing me to see the progress. The only issue that I have had was experiencing some feedback while on a call, but I take calls so infrequently that it could have been user error.

JBL live flex

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These headphones are great ! They have that premium JBL bass you expect with crisp clear audio ! That being said I work outdoor doing landscaping and these ain't too great for that ! The noise cancellation was good for certain things but not with a blower on ! So as far as not very noisy environments or studying or anything like that these are my go too !

Super confortable with impressive feature set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Live Flex headphones deliver JBL's expected sound quality, impressive features, and a sleek, modern design. Although they take design queues from those other stemmed headphones, the Live Flex lightweight build was very comfortable for extended wear. Something I can't say about the other guys. Sound Quality
Audio performance is a standout feature, with balanced bass, mids, and highs that cater well to a variety of genres. Vocals are clear, and the bass is punchy without overpowering the mix. You can also customize the EQ to your heart's content via the JBL Headphones App, which provides presets to change between generes at the push of a button. Features and Noise Cancellation
These headphones pack a solid feature set, including Personi-Fi (a hearing test that customizes the sound to each ear), the mentioned EQ presets via the JBL app, voice assistant support (Google, Alexa or your native phone assistant), Adaptive Noise Cancellation and multi-point connectivity for seamless device switching. To top it off, they will easily last a full work day in your ears, with up to 8 hours per charge, plus 24 hours with the case. Honestly, it would take a lot of writing to go over all the features included. They are a great value for the price. One thing to note is that the adaptive noise cancellation is effective but not perfect. Without in-ear rubber tips, creating a proper seal is highly dependent on your ear shape, which can impact ANC performance and bass response. These headphones do a great job minimizing steady background noise like air conditioning or office chatter, but given the lack of rubber tips, I wouldn't expect them to be fully immersive for everyone. However, this design choice also makes them feel airy and comfortable for long time use, so I suppose it's a give and take in that regard. Overall, the JBL Live Flex combines style, sound, and features at a competitive price, making them a solid choice for everyday use.

JBL Live Flex review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having never experienced earbuds before, I was eager for the opportunity. Often seeing people using them I was always curious about the sound quality and comfort. Upon getting them, everything seemed pretty much straight forward, from charging to downloading the app. During the setup, I appreciated the concept of an in the ear hearing test in order to calibrate the multiple frequency listening levels. This truly customizes the device to the user's specific hearing thresholds. When it came to putting them on, they felt like they could easily fall out. I'm sure this is likely to insure comfort, which they are. But I would be mindful while wearing them. When it comes to sound quality I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering the size of the device. Clarity is however what you would expect from this brand, "outstanding". The bass response isn't quite as much as I imagined, but I'm sure I will be able to increase it once I navigate thru the fairly expansive software app. But they simply sound terrific right from the start. I received a phone call while listening to music and was instantly able to answer the call with speed and ease. I told the caller that I had taken the call thru earbuds and how did I sound. They said that they couldn't tell any difference from usual. However, I was hearing them thru both ears hands free. This I enjoyed! My overall opinion is a very positive one. While I'm sure they are capable of far more versatility and functionality as the app seems to be quite intricate but not complicated. With more time to spend learning and auditioning them I'm sure I'll will like them even more.

Excellent, but depends on what you're doing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, really great sound. The app does a mini hearing test, which allows for unparalleled sound customization. The case is sleek and sturdy, the battery lasts a very long time and charges quickly. These earbuds don't come with silicone ear tips. At first, I was skeptical about how well noise cancellation would work. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I preferred this design. While these buds obviously don't completely block out sound, other earbuds with silicone tips leave me feeling underwater with ANC, especially when there is a pause in music or in between calls. When I'm working remotely, I end up constantly taking the earbuds out in between calls, because I can't stand that underwater feeling. But these earbuds felt like the perfect compromise. It dramatically reduced outside noise, but I still felt present within my surroundings. When there's no sound playing, I can't even tell that I have the earbuds in. The sound quality with calls is excellent. These are my new go to earbuds for working remotely. However, the lack of silicone tips also means that they fall out more easily. These just don't work for me when I'm exercising or running around. So bottom line is, there's pros and cons. I think they are excellent earbuds, but not for every scenario.

Amazing sound with no gels. Crisp clean and bass!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Live Flex earbuds are gel-free earbuds promoted as all-day headphones: designed to be as useful in the office on meetings as on the train listening to music. If earbuds with no gels don't cause you discomfort, then these might be for you. Music: 9 of 10 For not having gels to fill my ears, I was really expecting these earbuds to have poor sound. When I saw that these don't have gels, I prepared my 'Music' rating to be 5 or 6...Every other pair I've tried without gels sound flat. I have to say, for not having gels, these sound really, really good..amazing even. Once I tuned them with the equalizer, they were really close to my old favorite earbuds. They are very crisp and clean.. I can hear things in music tracks I've never noticed before. While not quite as punchy as I'm used to, there actually is a nice bass curve, which is pretty amazing with no gels. My rating creeped higher and higher the longer I listened... honestly they could be 10 out of 10, but my personal taste is to have just a little bit more oomph on the low end. Calls/meetings: 10 of 10 JBL tells me that these have 6 microphones. I used them for work meetings, and actually called myself to have a listen. They sound good, and I was able to have conversations in noisy and windy environments with no issues. These work, they last a long time, and the controls do what I need. Podcast / Audiobook: 10 of 10 For all the reasons described above in Music and Calls, these buds are even more perfect for spoken word audio. They sounded perfectly balanced and super crisp and clear. Clarity 10 of 10 Given that these are designed to be used as "all day" earbuds, for calls, conferences, music, and everything else, I felt like clarity deserved it's own ranking here. These definitely get full points. As mentioned above, music and spoken word was crystal clear. Same for conference calls. Comfort: 5 of 10 Without different sized gels, everyone's experience with these will be different. I generally have pretty big earholes, and these fit well: not too snug, but not so loose that they fall out or have poor sound. I will say, for non-gel earbuds, they are comfortable, but even still, after about 4 hours, I had a bit of an ear ache. One note: these earbuds sit fairly flat against my ear, which can be a nice feature if wanting to wear these under, say a helmet, sound protection, or anything covering one's ears. I could see these earbuds becoming my go to pair under my helmet for motorcycle riding. Controls/Software: 9 of 10 Controls are standard with the expected ambient controls, pause, hangup, mute, skip, rewind, etc. They are touch controls, rather than a tactile push... sometimes the touch controls can be a bit finnicky, but these are nice and responsive. The Person-fi with hearing test is nice, but I had to modify the resulting EQ as the resulting sound was a bit tinny. The EQ is nice, there are sound presets, or you can create a very basic waveform with just a couple points. You can also get really specific and dial in your sound with 10 adjustable frequencies. There are nice options in the software like balance, max volume, find my buds, auto play/pause, and some power saving options. Pairing and connecting was completely intuitive: quick and easy. The Bluetooth 5.3 connection never faltered once. One feature new to me here is that the case can be wirelessly charged. I thought this was silly at first, but the more I use it, the more I appreciate it. Noise cancelling: 6 of 10 JBL has their noise cancelling tech down, and these earbuds try, but I think without the gels, there is just too much ambient sound that can seep in. Battery: 8 of 10 Rated 8 hours plus 32 hours in case. Search the internet for longest lasting earbuds, and you see 10 to 12 hours.. so these are close with 8 hours plus the case. A full workday (or a full night's sleep) is enough for me.. though I removed an additional point as I think it's closer to 6 hours + 24 hours with noise cancelling on. TL;DR: I really do recommend these, though it will depend on the fit in your ears! Having no gels is a pro or con depending on your preference. If you are in the 'no gel' camp, get these! For me, the lack of gels means a (very slightly) less full sound, less noise cancelling, and less comfort.
