Perfect to use if your air conditioning is broken. Perfect to use by itself. Perfect to use a a supplement to AC in a room when the temps are 100+ . It cools a 12 x12 room fast to 68 -70 degrees with the door shut within 20 min. If the door is left open 9 -10 inches, it cooled the room, not to the set temperature, but helped to cool the dinning room.living room and hallway. It is perfect for 1-2 rooms. My understanding (dont get upset if i am wrong) media is a chinese company that makes some whirlpool products and some whirlpool parts. We purchased this portable A/C unit when our aging HVAC system bit the dust during hottest 2+ weeks in July. I took over 2 weeks to get the new HVAC system ordered and installed. During which this portable A/C unit kept our living room at a comfortable low 70 temp/low humidity, even though the living room is open on one end (no wall). This made it possible to survive comfortably, even sleeping in the living room, if needed.

Needed this little unit while waiting on part for central air repair. Easy to set up and cooled my bedroom easily. Didn’t need to drain any water while operating in the cool setting; was concerned since other reviewers noted having to drain but I think that is in error. I live in S Texas and it is very humid and still no water to drain as it likely evaporates itself out in the cool setting.

The cooling unit works well, but some confusion about the draining process, and highly recommend the exhaust hose modification. In the humid Carolinas the drain can produce a gallon or more of water in 2-3 hours. I have the hose attached to the upper drain and into a container I empty frequently. However, if I plug the upper stopper and remove the drain hose, the unit continues to cool and function without manual draining. I don't understand the purpose of draining manually and all the hassle? It seems to work just as well? I'm guessing the exhaust heat from the unit is drying up the water on its own? Instructions and info I found online were not clear about this. Also be prepared to deal with the units exhaust hose which may need to be lengthened/modified to reach a window etc. The exhaust hose also gets very hot and really needs to be insulated or your really adding a lot of heat to the area you are trying to cool. I wrapped mine with thick fabric to try and contain the heat. There are kits you can buy to insulate and lengthen the exhaust hose. You might be able to use some HVAC flexible hose for this purpose as well.

Purchase the machine to use in my living room. The windows in my living room are irregular shaped and they won't fit a window AC unit. The unit works very well. It does manage to cool the space adequately.

I brought 2. Thought both were new but I was wrong. One box only had the A/C, the remote and other items were not included. It looked like it was used and it keeps cutting off. Both do not get the room cold as stated. They will be returned.

I bought 4 Midea a/c units. I used 2 of 4 units and both were defective and wont cool properly, the compressor shuts off after about an hour of operation and starts shaking. Im returning all 4 units, im going to Try another brand like whirlpool I have other whirlpool units and they work well.
