I used to have bad red rash which was originally red and itchy when using this product because of its reaction to vitamin A. I repeat you should NOT use this wash together with vitamin A creams like retinol because this cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid. When I was off retinol and used this product solely in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide to control my acne, it worked so well to de-clog my pores and keep my face from breaking out! (I have extremely oily skin with bad history of cystic acne) really happy with this product but I recommend not to use it twice a day as it can be too harsh. On some days when my skin is dry, I use a gentle cleanser. On a side note, neutrogena could skip the fragrance, It doesn’t really do much for the skin :/

I'm an 45 yo Afro-Am woman with oily/acne prone skin and I must say this wash is the BEST at treating my acne. Since I started using it my skin is smooth, clear and with CONSISTENT use (sometimes I get lazy) acne free. I've tried VERY expensive products recommended by dermatologist and estheticians, but NONE have worked better than this one. The 2% SA ingredient does the trick but CAN OVER DRY if you're not careful so it's VERY important to use this product with a lubricant (coca butter/vaseline). The first couple of times I used it, I used it twice a day WITHOUT lubricants so my eyes dried out, my lips were stripped and the tip of nose was flaky and peeling, so I pulled back to once a day and started using lubricants. I'm so glad I didn't give up on this product because the results were so worth it. To prevent drying/peeling of the delicate areas (Eyes, tips of Nose, Mouth) I follow these steps: 1) Apply a SMALL amount of lubricant (I prefer cocoa butter) to eyes, nose and mouth with a cotton ball or Q-tip 2) Apply N's Oil-Free face wash (usually on my cheeks, chin and forehead - where I breakout most). I usually leave the wash on my face for a few seconds. 3) Remove with warm water repeating this step several times. 4) I wash again with a mild soap or gentle face wash to remove product and coca butter residue and then pat dry. I follow-up with an Oil-Free Toner and my face is left feeling clean, fresh, smooth and and acne-free. I use this product ONCE a day (2x per day if I've skipped a day or two and feel like I'm going to have a major breakout). My daughter uses the same product in a cream version (she has dry skin) and it works better for her so be open to trying different versions until you find the perfect mix for you. Hope this helps!

First off I want to say I rarely have problems testing different products, I have combination skin and it's pretty tough. I purchased this product to try something different. I don't suffer from acne but I get the occasional spot on my face and I wanted to see if this was effective in clearing up those every now and then blemishes. The first time I used it, it was before bed, I wasn't able to sleep because my face was extremely itchy. My chin area, my cheeks. It was excruciatingly painful. I woke up in the morning with red dry skin. That was only after my first time using it. The second time it was 10x more unbearable. My whole forehead has broken out in tiny bumps (which was totally clear before me using it) and has increased the amount of blemishes on my face. I do not recommend this and am returning this product immediately. Do not waste your money and don't let the #1 Dermatologist Recommended on the bottle fool you.

This oil free acne wash is truly is an ok for me but such a great price! I actually don’t have oily skin though so maybe it would be better for oily skin, it was an accidental purchase for me but I still used every drop so I do recommend to acne and oily skin!

Kickin it old school with this face wash. But I’m in my 40’s and doing alright! My husband in his 50s and always shocks people when he says his age! We both use this face wash (I’m sure that’s not the only reason why) but it I’m sure helps! Doesn’t dry our faces out and leaves us clean, clear and under control!

This is hands down the worst cleanser I've ever used. I used it only twice and was left with chemical burns. TWICE. This is especially disappointing because this is marketed towards people who also ready have issues with their skin, and this just adds to the list of skin concerns and pain. Totally unsatisfied and will be steering clear of Neutrogena from now on.

Moved from Germany to New York and couldn’t find the skincare I used back then here. So I started with this product and let me tell you I use it over a year now! The scent is neutral, no burning on my skin (and I have sensitive one) just keep your eyes closed! The price is good for the quality. I would say it’s very effective. With some other products from neutrogena I can keep my breakouts in control :)

This is great for unclogging pores or if you are prone to clogging. I use 2 or 3 times a week to help maintain my pores and this is a must have in my arsenal of skin care. This is very effective so if you are not prone to pore clogging this is not for you. I use sunscreen and makeup every day so this really cleans out what can build up over time. I do not advise that you use this every day because that may not be necessary for your skin. With any active ingredient go slow and determine what works for you. This is very effective for my over 40 yr old combination skin. FYI I use once a day 2 to 3 times a week for tight clean pores and I do not use 2 days in a row. This works and can not be without this.

They all made my skin stop and worked with the acne I have going on and exfoliated and the scents are amazin.g. it worked really quick. The texture was great. Wasn't thick, just the exact. The packaging doesn't matter to me and it was great value for the money
