Too new to know quality

I just bought this generator for emergencies and I am going to run it on propane. I do not have a propane bottle yet so I have not tried the generator yet but I do like the features. The fact that you can run it on propane is a big plus because you do not have to worry about the gas that is left in it will get stale. Stale gas in an emergency would be a big problem.

Just received-

Works just as described-Added oil, connected to my propoane tank and started right up. Took me almost longer to break down the box it came in than it did to get the generator ready to fire up- Just breaking it in, but so far, love this thing- Remote start is awesome!

Great generator!!

After many hours of research, I ordered the Westinghouse model WGN 9500 DFC. I followed instructions getting ready to start. It started right up and everything worked OK. Every time I have started it it has worked very good, and I feel ready now for any power outage that might happen. I would recommend the Westinghouse model WGN 9500 DFC do anyone needing a generator to power anything 9500 W or less

NUMEROUS FEATURES / VERY WELL DESIGNED

Just had to use this for the first time. My power went out and I hadn't even put the oil in yet. Took one minute to put the oil in and connect the battery. Took one more minute to hook up the propane (with the supplied hose) and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. Ran all the items I needed in my house which included 3 freezers, 2 refrigerators, hot water heater, all the lights, and my AC unit. From what I could tell I had more than enough power.

Power and esae of use!

We got this generator right after the 2021 freeze in Texas, and right before the hurricane season. We have it wired right in to our Mainr Breaker panel, and It has plenty of power to run all our essential appliances, and with some breaker control, even our 4 ton AC!. Putting it together was simple, and it fired right off. The dual fuel option is great, since it gives us more options for fuel, plus doubles our fuel capacity, without haivng to fill the garage with gas cans

Pretty Darned Good, couple of minor details....

Nice package/packaging, very well laid out. I also have a 6kW Onan, which is physically larger. Overall, happy with product, Westinghouse gets about 4.8 Stars on this unit. Minor details however; 1. Westinghouse kindly provided 1quart of oil, but machine capacity is 1.16 quarts. It IS documented in the manual (Glad I read it, usually I don't....). Didn't want to run without "full" complement of oil, so I topped the machine off with some extra oil that I already had. Hard for anyone to ship "1.16 Quarts" of oil. No dings for Westinghouse on this, just be aware of it. 2. Out of the box, the threads were buggered up on one of the welded on 10mm nuts where the legs/feet attach to the machine. Chased them with one of the bolts on the backside of the nut, didn't have a 10mm tap. Minor thing. 3. Electric/Automatic choke mechanism was gritty/tight on first attempt to start. Figured out lack of start quickly. Ceased starting attempts, manually moved the manual choke mechanism back and forth a bunch of times, loosening it up. Also sprayed a small amount of oil w/Teflon in it on the mechanism. Probably the biggest ding for Westinghouse. A lot of people wouldn't know what was happening/why it wasn't starting and just send it back. I may ask Westinghouse for a replacement auto choke mechanism. Looks like an easy changeout. 4. Mechanical fuel/gasoline valve is a bit odd. In my past experience, when the shutoff lever is perpendicular to the direction of flow in the fuel line, the valve is closed. Just the opposite here, when it's perpendicular, the valve is open. No biggie, you just have to have good lighting, your glasses on and you can read the imprint on the fuel valve. Anyway, I'm quite happy with the machine overall. Lots of nice features, one of my faves is the battery charger and the fact that they included it with the machine. Lots of great features packed into this unit. Other than the relatively small details above, I give it a 4.8 out of 5 Stars.

Great features with dual fuel..30 or 50 amp hookup

I bought this generator earlier this month and have been getting the 50 amp transfer switch connections completed for whole house power operations. I have yet to fire it up yet. I plan to update this review as soon as it is tested and run under power out conditions. I give it 4 stars just based on it's capabilities and features.

Built with Care

Purchased this to replace our 15+ year-old Coleman generator that froze during Hurricane Ian recovery (Fall of 2022). This generator has more options for starting and fuel sources that makes it a must during such times. (i.e. gasoline not readily available but tanks of propane were on hand). Mechanically: the welds are smooth and secure; paint shows no over-spray; and feels solid as a rock when tipped end to end for inspection. Additionally the unit, started right up w/o delay using propane as the fuel source. Very happy with our purchase and expect to get many years of service from this one.

Powers my whole house during power outage!

I purchased this generator in January,2022. Love it! So many features including key fob to start. I can run it on gas or propane with 1 switch. Easy to move. I can run my entire house with power to spare! I would purchase again and recommend to anyone needing a generator. Love it! Andy,Sc

WGen9500DF - Easy to setup & start... works great!

I received the Westinghouse 9,500/12,500-Watt Dual Fuel Portable Generator (WGen9500DF) on March 6. It was packaged nicely and easy to cut the box sides and slide the unit out as the instructions stated. Setup was easy and took like 15 minutes. I reread the directions a couple of times and viewed the unit prior to attempting setup. Simple steps to install foot supports and 2 back wheels, connect battery junction and add oil. I chose to perform initial startup using the auto start feature. I pressed the start button for 2 seconds. The unit attempting to start, paused, attempted a 2nd time, paused, then started on the 3rd attempt. I wasn't sure what it would do but easy 1st startup! I let run with nothing attached for a few hours. I stopped it using the remote key. Pressed STOP for a second or two and it shut off. After a couple minutes I pressed the start option on the remote for a second and it started right back up! We had some welding to do down at our pond (about 400' from the back of house). Used the generator to power the welder and a couple grinders. Worked fantastic!
