Well Built Generator

I just got this generator, after losing power multiple times over the past few years. I wanted something that could run any appliance in the house plus a few extra items, and could also run on propane. Unpackaging and setup was very easy. The fold down handle bar is perfect for easy storage and towing. And overall, the generator seems well built (coming from an engineer). It did require about 1.5L of oil to fill, not 1.1L as stated in the manual. After filling with oil, I connected the battery, connected the propane, pushed the electric start button...and it cranked up perfectly on the first try. No issues! I'm very pleased with the purchase so far.

Great price and Features

I just had this generator delivered two days ago. It was very east to assemble. I was having electrician set up so I can run through my home breaker box. Once together I test ran and started on first try with push and remote. The electrician and I tested on the house and it ran the items we hoped it would easily two refrigerator, lights and televisions. we didn't try the A/C. I'm very impressed. I would recommend. I did not mention we live in Florida and I'm sure we will use with the tropical storms and hurricanes.

We'll see

Received in July. Fired up and ran great for break in on 1 gallon of fresh gas. Tried to start again for power outage related to Hurricane Ian, refused to start on 5 gallons of fresh gas. Tried around 20 times. Switched to propane, ran great. If warranty works with me to fix problem, I'll edit to 5 stars.

Everything I needed at a great price

I bought the wgen9500df for all it's features like remote start, gas and propane, and it came at a great price. Followed the start initial start up procedure and it fired up right away. Broke the generator in for the first 5 hours and it's handled everything I through at it since. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Pretty Darned Good, couple of minor details....

Nice package/packaging, very well laid out. I also have a 6kW Onan, which is physically larger. Overall, happy with product, Westinghouse gets about 4.8 Stars on this unit. Minor details however; 1. Westinghouse kindly provided 1quart of oil, but machine capacity is 1.16 quarts. It IS documented in the manual (Glad I read it, usually I don't....). Didn't want to run without "full" complement of oil, so I topped the machine off with some extra oil that I already had. Hard for anyone to ship "1.16 Quarts" of oil. No dings for Westinghouse on this, just be aware of it. 2. Out of the box, the threads were buggered up on one of the welded on 10mm nuts where the legs/feet attach to the machine. Chased them with one of the bolts on the backside of the nut, didn't have a 10mm tap. Minor thing. 3. Electric/Automatic choke mechanism was gritty/tight on first attempt to start. Figured out lack of start quickly. Ceased starting attempts, manually moved the manual choke mechanism back and forth a bunch of times, loosening it up. Also sprayed a small amount of oil w/Teflon in it on the mechanism. Probably the biggest ding for Westinghouse. A lot of people wouldn't know what was happening/why it wasn't starting and just send it back. I may ask Westinghouse for a replacement auto choke mechanism. Looks like an easy changeout. 4. Mechanical fuel/gasoline valve is a bit odd. In my past experience, when the shutoff lever is perpendicular to the direction of flow in the fuel line, the valve is closed. Just the opposite here, when it's perpendicular, the valve is open. No biggie, you just have to have good lighting, your glasses on and you can read the imprint on the fuel valve. Anyway, I'm quite happy with the machine overall. Lots of nice features, one of my faves is the battery charger and the fact that they included it with the machine. Lots of great features packed into this unit. Other than the relatively small details above, I give it a 4.8 out of 5 Stars.

Perfect for us old timers

Replacing a unit with about half the power but with only recoil start. I’m at the age and shape now that it’s not a guarantee that I’ll have the strength or endurance to get it started. With this unit both myself and my wife feel comfortable in knowing that we can maintain our house with this well built and very sturdy generator.

Great features

Purchased this generator, wgen9500df, about a month ago. All that had to be done to set it up was to attach the wheels, attach the battery cables, added the oil which was supplied and the propane line. Set the generator to the propane mode and pressed the start button. It cranked about three times and started. I purchased this generator for the features, which include gas or propane mode, 50 amp power available, and the data center which reads voltage, frequency, lifetime run hours and run/maintenance. I had purchase another brand, same power, about two months ago because this generator was out of stock at that time. When this unit became available, I sold the first one so I could purchase the Westinghouse. Loaded with features. Price is unbeliveable. Beats the competition by a mile. This unit hase ample power to run your house when the power is down. If your looking for a generator I would recommend this one. Check it out on the internet and review all the features. I purchased this one because I can run it on propane. When we have power outage in our area, the gas stations connot pump gas but I can obtain propane. Also, propane will not gum up the carb and you can store it forever between uses and not worry about draining the gas from the carbs and tank.

This is the generator you would want to have!

This is the generator you would want to have! It fits all the plug in applications you would ever need. I've worked in the field and have gone through finding the right machinery to do what this one does, in one application, and I've always had to get two to get it done. Way to go Westinghouse!

Started on First Try!

Ordered this to feed the main panel of the house, which will feed just about everything in the house, including well pump, sump pump, AC, etc. Have not had to use it yet, but all indications are good that it'll be a great addition for those emergency moments. Love the option of having a choice of fuel. Especially since propane can be kept in storage indefinitely.
