Bought this generator the day after we got power back. We were without power for 7 days and said we won't be without power again. We figured we needed bare necessities to survive but the fuel consumption (approx. .55gph or .67gallons of propane per hour) is the same as smaller generators (5kw generators). So for a little additional upfront cost to get the bigger 9500w you can have all the power you could want while using the same amount of fuel and know you will never be underpowered. Also got the dual fuel because we found during an emergency gasoline is hard to find and you can run a grill propane bottle for about 7hours which will buy you some time for gasoline to become available to switch back to. The generator will scare you because you will push the start button and it cranks for a long time and sometimes you have to push start again for another cranking cycle but I guess that is just a characteristic of this generator. It has always started it just cranks for a long time before it fires up. Once it is running it is quiet and the wheel/handle kit is great for moving it around! Great purchase, I feel so prepared for any storm now.

Been wanting a REAL generator for many years..and this precision piece of powerful equiupment fits all the needs, and them some ! Can't say enough about what Westinghouse has created. I've researched them all, and was not disappointed on bit with this major purchase for our family!

Frequent and sustained Power Failures in Eastern Pennsylvania required decisive action. In particular, I needed a Generator that is reliable and easy to use in order to provide emergency power to my Sump Pump. The ability to add on additional appliances was also important, but the Sump issue was becoming the Center of My Universe. The WGen9500DF seems to have all the attributes I need, and more. It arrived perfectly boxed and undamaged. I was already aware due to other reviews, that the engine oil that ships with the unit was not quite a sufficient quantity to fill the oil reserve, so I did purchase additional oil before I could test and use the Generator. The Generator is a heavy monster (200+ lbs). In order to put the wheels and peg legs on prior to filling it with oil/gas and making it moveable, you really need to have a second person to help lift it. The actual process of putting the legs and wheels on is very straightforward, but without additional help, there was no way a 67 year old woman was going to accomplish it. So its important to factor that in as a critical step in finalizing use of the Generator.... don't wait for the emergency. The battery connection plug seemed a little tough for me to squeeze together because I was squeemish about bending anything and it didn't exactly glide in as easily as I expected, so an extra strong push is required. The oil descrepancy between the amount shipped and what is eventually required is a bit disconcerting because you are cautioned about overfilling the oil reserve, so you have to ease your measure of additional oil by constantly using the dipstick. Finally, I poured some, but not a lot, of gas into the tank to give the WGen a test run. After turning the fuel selector to "Gasoline", moving the fuel tank valve to ON, Pushing the battery switch to ON, I hit REMOTE START. The Gen tried 3 times to turn over but didn't. So I shut everything off thinking maybe I was too timid about the amount of gasoline in it. I added some more gas. Reset all my start buttons. And the WGen started right up. The outside temperature was about 19 degrees at the time, so that might not have helped either. The Generator ran like a charm, so I let it go for about 5 minutes to circulate everything. I did not hook any loads onto it at this time. For me, this is the kind of purchase where I hope I don't have to use it that often since its strictly for emergency power backup, and not recreational use. However, the Push Button Electric Start is already worth the price of admission since pulling recoil starts is becoming very difficult. I also don't think the noise level is excessive, but there's been so many Generators running in the area lately, perhaps I have become immune to the sound. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase, and think it was relatively easy to get the WGen ready for action from a person not too familiar with engines.

We bought this recently, and while we will be using it heavily at the end of the month we have just started it up. It took quite a few tries to get it started the first time, which caused us to think it was either broken or we missed a step. But after letting it try the battery (one-touch) start for 5 minutes it fired up and ran like a champ. I think they should leave a notice somewhere that this might occur and not to worry to make customers feel better or prevent returns. That said, other than having to buy an adapter to cover the 4-prong locking 30 Amp to a standard 3-prong camper 30 Amp it has a lot of great features. We were able to run the a 50-amp camper with the air cranked up no problem. The switch between propane and gas is so easily and seamless since you don't have to turn it off to do it. I hardly noticed it changed over since it didn't break a sweat. I do wish it was a little bit quieter, but for the power you get and the price (compared to an inverter which can be quieter at sometimes DOUBLE the price) I really cannot complain too much. Overall, a great purchase and we look forward to hopefully MANY years to come.

Received the generator in a timely manner and without damage. Mounting the bumpers and wheels can be a two-person job, if weak of heart. This generator has a lot of features, so go slow in the learning process. Once the generator was fuel and ready to go, used my existing switch box to power up the entire house except HVAC system. Will need a hurricane (God forbid) or summer T-storm to fully test the WGen9500DF.

We needed a generator to power our well pump when the electricity goes out. I’ve been a fan of Westinghouse since around 2010 when I bought one of their tv’s on Black Friday. So it was an easy choice. I am pleased with this generator, it comes with a remote starter and it’s just an attractive piece of equipment to look at. It powers our well pump, refrigerators, air conditioner, tv’s, and lights with no issue. I’m very pleased with my purchase and will keep purchasing Westinghouse products in the future

After researching several models, this generator has the most features for the money spent. I needed dual fuel, electric start, and known quality - I got all three with this unit. Hopefully, I won't need this generator (intended for Hurricane/storm use), but I feel confident I won't be "in the dark" with this one!

Purchases this generator and fresh out of the box, does not start, oil provided with unit not sufficient per manufacture’s recommended amount, add additional qt quart to make recommended amount correct. Now waiting for customer service to respond. Pulled rope, remote, or push start not powering up machine. Have to trouble shoot and use Manuel to figure out why units not starting. Spent a lot of money on this dual gas/propane’s powers unit. Extremely disappointed in this purchase

This Westinghouse generator WGen9500DF came with so many options, the electric Push Button start, remote start so I can shut the generator off when I go to bed and turn it back on if the house needs heat or AC during the nite without leaving my bedroom.dual fuel is another great option when gas lines are long I can use propane.Battery charger and battery all included. And a nice warranty.

After much research, I went with the WGen9500DF. What I liked: around 9000 running watts, 6 plug-ins, dual fuel, well-built engine, meter display, and push button start. Break-In the engine before using it hard and that will help the engine last longer and run better. YouTube has generator break-in videos. I've ran it about 5 hours now and it's doing great. Use ethanol free gas if you can. Thank you Westinghouse for making a great machine at a great price.
