we originally planned to purchase a whole house standby generator but realized we would be limited to home use only. we instead decided to purchase the Westinghouse portable generator which we could then use for our home backup power and still be used offsite if needed.

Assembled the generator right after the truck driver left. Assembly was no problem having spent decades assembling new equipment at my job before retiring last year. Put fuel and oil in connected the battery and it fired right up. Tested the circuits and all work fine. The only problem with it is that the fuel gauge on top of the tank does not work. Not a huge thing but still for a thousand dollars one would expect everything to work properly. Guess I'll just have to open the tank and peek inside to check the fuel level. Bought it to power our essential appliances in the event of a power outage so fortunately have not had to use it yet.

generator is great , just cant believe, that the would not provide the connection cords , to go with the unit , since these are not cords you can find easily, heck even went to 2 different Walmart stores couldn't find them, have order them online, just to let u know , bought a 5500 , 35 some ought years ago , now that one came with all cords and accessories needed, can you imagine if I needed the generator in a emergency , i would have been screwed, all I'm saying its like u go and buy a plane and u cant use it cause it aint got no wings

Super easy setup. Read the instructions and follow the directions and you'll be happy. Pay attention to your choke setting because you may need to move it one way or another if the machine doesn't start after a couple tries. Yes, the directions emphasize this too. Powers the whole house through a GenerLink meter connection that the electric company installed for free. Yes, the GenerLink costs money but saves a considerable amount in labor fees to install the alternative way of connecting the generator. A little loud running but lowers the decibels considerably with a properly built generator box. In conclusion, this Westinghouse generator is a solid investment in peace of mind.

Instructions were good and well written. Assembly was quick and easy. We gave it a test run and it worked perfectly. We chose this machine after reading customer reviews on multiple sites and evaluating ratings of consumer-type agencies. We are Very pleased with this machine.

I do not have an owners manual or any assembly instructions for this generator. will you please send one? Thanks

Upon starting this generator for the 1st time, we noticed the engine was missing. Turns out the black cover over the spark plug was busted and the attachment to the spark plug was bent and would not reattach. Have requested a replacement, we will see how that goes.

Great so far. Generator looks good and performs well. I like the remote start and stop key bob. The only thing that I’ve seen so far is that when running on propane (it is a dual fuel machine) it doesn’t put out as much wattage - I did not see this in any of information I read on the machine anywhere. I would recommend this product.
