Don’t buy avocados through pickup

I have always bought my avocados in store & they have always been great. Then I bought them through the pickup dept & never again! I bought 2 bags & 1 bag was rotten & had to throw away. The 2nd bag was a little better only had to throw away a few. So disappointed!!!

Avocado Woes

The bunch I purchased recently went from underripe to too overripe without ever being edible. Tried to cut into one that felt ready, but it was still too hard to eat. I’m not sure where the problem is if they’re getting picked too early or preserved in a way that keeps them from ripening. If only we could grow our own avocados, right!

Quality not the same

For quite a while the Sam’s Club avocados were the only avocados I would buy as they ripened consistently and rarely a grey spots on cutting open. I typically purchased a bag a week. Something has happened in the last few months and I am now at the point where Sam’s Club avocados are the same crap shoot as the grocery stores. I have thrown away more avocados that were gray upon cutting or a mix of hard and ripe. Also had a bag that had only 4 instead of 5 that I didn’t realize until home. What has happened?

You might get lucky

Unfortunately, you can’t see under the skin of an avocado. The last bag of these that I bought from Sam’s were great. However I have also purchased avocados from Sam’s that were bruised and black inside when cut open and had to be discarded. I attribute part of this to other Sam’s shoppers who think they can toss bags of this fragile fruit around while they look for the perfect bag. They just cause bruising to the avocados, even when the fruit is hard.

Best avocados in town

These avocados are of good, consistent quality. I eat one every day and make a point to buy more when there are two left. They are hard upon purchase but soften in one to two days. On the third day, I store in the refrigerator and they keep until I run out.

Good product

This bag of avocados is a great purchase.I have bought 3-6bags every week for over a year. We makes guacamole for church lunches. Sometimes avocado/tomato salads. We have a had a few bags that looked good but turned out to be very brown inside, but Sam’s replace those few and everything was great.

Used to be the best not anymore

Used to be the best not anymore, now doesn’t get ripe and the color it’s purple outside but it’s hard like raw then you cut inside and hard like a rock and been days that you can see mold getting on the top. I used to buy every week for years and the last 2-3 times it was bad so no more for me.

check the labels

mixed bag, i highly recommend mexican avocados they are top shelf quality, soft and flavorful HOWEVER every once in a while i see peruvian avocados and they're awful the don't ripe properly and develop hard spots within the fruit, sometimes you will also see california avocados these are 50/50 but generally ok, read the labels they always say where they come from

Excellent, tasty avocados

I love these avocados! They are very tasty, have nice texture and keep well in the fridge after ripe for several days. I just wish Sam's club didn't have to charge so much for them, as they are quite expensive compared to Walmart and Aldi's. At over $6.34 for a bag of 5, I can no longer afford them as often as I would like. They are great in a salad like the SW chopped salad or straight out of the shell. They are also consistent in quality compared to other stores with extremely rare bad spots.

A BAG OF AVOCADOS

It is easier to buy the avocados by the bag. A bag stops other customers from handling individual avocados. It is much more sanitary. Once we take the avocados out of bag, they are placed in a bowl until the avocados feel soft. Now each avocado is wrapped in aluminum foil. The avocados are then put into the refrigerator until ready to use.
