Awesome!!!

I have a 9 month old baby and bought this gate for the top of our stairs. It really is awesome! Now I don't have to worry about my baby cruising around anymore! It was super easy to assemble, I did it all by myself - no male help needed ;-)! If you need a sturdy baby gate and don't want to spend a whole lot of money on it - buy this one!

2y Old Mastered the "Child-proof" Lock in Seconds!

We got this gate to keep our toddler out of our kitchen because it was safer and more efficient than adding individual locks to each appliance and cabinet, to just block off the entire room and keep her out altogether. The gate itself is sturdy and functions well, it was easy to install, it's convenient for the parent to be able to walk through instead of stepping over or having to take down every time you need to pass through, but the locking mechanism is so primitive and over simplified that my 2 year old had already mastered it the very same day it was installed! All it took was her watching us unlock it once or twice and she'd figured it out. Which means this gate ultimately only works if you're using it for a pet or small baby who hasn't yet honed their fine motor skills, but even then, you had better be prepared to have to buy another for it's replacement as soon as they do because it's nothing for a toddler to open on their own!

Nice product but...

I really like the gate but I have two small issues, I wish the swinging part of the gate was a bit wider and I wish it would swing open in both directions but overall we are happy with it. Also make sure to use the anchor cups that come with it, trying to use it strictly as a compression gate doesn't work so well because of the hard plastic material the "feet" are made of.

Nice gate for the price

While similar gates run over $40, this was a bargain at $29. Pressure mounting eliminates the need to drill holes. However, this gate seems best suited as a pet gate (which I am using it as) rather than a child gate as it will slide along the wall with enough force. Installation was a breeze (less than 5 minutes to adjust). Also note that this gate only swings open in one direction which is fine for me.

Love It!

We have two adult dogs, two young dogs and nine (yes nine) kitties. The dogs need to stay out of certain rooms, but the cats need access. It got very difficult stepping over our other fences, or moving them to walk down the hall. We have another fence similar to this in a doorway that we removed (sawed out) one of the vertical rails from, so the cats can walk through but the dogs can't. Unfortunately, that one didn't fit the width of the hall. This one does - without the extension piece!! Additionally, the rails are slightly further apart, and all the kitties (even our big fat ones) can walk through it - no alterations needed. If the cost was lower I would definitely buy more of them, but it's still worth the price paid.

My first priority was price and Walmart offered it the cheapest compared to other online sites offering this exact same product. It falls short of my expectations in that the tension rods that hold it in place in the door frame do not have a rubber stopper type end they are merely plastic and because of that they don't grab as much traction and tend to slip under too much pressure. It is doing its job keeping my daughter out of the kitchen however I'm afraid as she gets older and possibly leans on it, it may slide out and give way and she could fall. Also this gate does not open in both directions. Obviously it would be better if it did. The latching device is perfect. Overall good value but need to fix traction issues with tension rods.

Great product, sturdy

This baby gate is very sturdy and easy to install without any damage to your door frame. It is a little taller than I expected, which is nice. It's also a lot more attractive than other bulky, hard-plastic baby gates. One word of caution: The lever to open the gate is sort of "one-handed operation," but only if you don't push the handle down all the way to engage the red safety latch. This latch has to be pushed to the side with one hand while you simultaneously lift up on the lever with the other hand in order to open the gate. If you push the lever down most of the way but not to the point where you hear the click when it engages the red latch, then you only need one hand to lift the lever. My 20 month old already knows how to open this gate, however, unless I engage the red latch, so it really isn't one-handed operation for me. If I have something in my arms, I have to put it down to open the gate.

It works...

I bought this to help out with my two kids and two dogs. Every time i opened the door one of them would think they needed to run out. So I put it in my hallway. It is help up by compression well it isn't strong enough no matter how much I twist the knobs. You barely touch the gate it moves. And I think the lock could have been made a little more child proof. My 4 year old has already figured out how to open it... which defeats my whole purpose.

Best one and best price

Got this one to limit access for the pets. Both large and small dogs and a cat. Works really well. Best part is the way to open and close the gate with one hand. If you need to get up at night and have to get somewhere fairly quick without a lot of fumbling, this is the gate for you. It easily opens with one hand, and be secured with ease. Yet it has a snap lock option that will would be a challenge for little hands. Gate is easily installed and looks nice. It is metal so the dogs can't chew it up. I did the pick up at the store so no delivery fee. Overall a good deal and much cheaper than one at the pet store.

good

it is good for the price.even though not that good as other brands. the way to open is kind of fussy, sometimes, i just close it at the position without l;ocking it, cause my son is keeping on go in and out too trouble to lock it everytime.but it do does its work to block the way to kichen and keep the baby safe. if you donot want to spend much on a safety gate, this is a very good choice, highly recommended.
