My child won't get his fingers pinched in this like you can in the cheap models. Love that it stays in place and I can swing it open to walk through. Bought a second one for the other doorway after using first one for a month. Both still holding up. Fits our standard doorways but comes with an extension. Would fit a narrower doorway as well.

I had low expectation of the fit of this gate because of the many weird conditions of the bottom of our staircase. If nothing fits, I just bought this one because it's cheaper. But it turned out perfectly for us (note: we used wall protectors): 1) metal bar is thin, so it fits in a space where the clearing of the railing is only a little less than 3/4 of an inch. The edge of the rubber foot is a little outside the railing's edge, but it works, 2) our opening is 39 in, the maximum fit of this gate is 38.5 in, but because we used wall protectors, it fits no problem, without the protectors it seems fine as well, but we didn't tighten everything to try it, 3) unlike the other extra wide easy step gate we had, the hand lever has just the right amount of friction at the pivot, so if I lift it up, it stays up, it makes it easier to open the gate when I don't need to keep the kids out.

We love this gate!! We bought 2 to keep our puppy out of certain areas. They work fabulous!! Our door opening were approx. 36" wide. We just used the tension rods. They are easy for an adult or older child to open, but impossible for a toddler. Great for the price!

The product works exactly as shown in the picture. It is NOT a heavy duty gate. It is NOT intended to block off a large area. There is a fairly significant ledge to step over, and the gate itself is rather narrow. That being said, the value dollar for dollar is excellent. This gate would not hold up long to a large dog trying to get to the other side, or a determined toddler throwing a tantrum, but is useful for keeping areas blocked off.

I purchased this baby gate for the upstairs hallway of my house. It is very easy to put together. We did have to use the extender piece which just slides right into place. The gate is taller and the latch is easy to use for my older children. The red lock piece slides back and The door latch pulls up. It is by far the least tricky latch of the all gates that we have used. It is also very sturdy because it is one solid piece. I am considering buying another to replace an older gate that I have downstairs.

These gates are sturdy and fairly easy to open and close once installed. They are, however, somewhat time-consuming to install, and you wouldn't want to put them up and take them down frequently. We put 2 gates up when my 1-year-old grandson visited, and I had hoped we could take them down when he was asleep. Considering the time and effort to install them, this wasn't practical. They stayed up until grandson went home.

Very easy to set up. Can actually go about 1/2 slimmer if you remove one (2) of the adjustment knobs and just keep the foot on. Mind the bar at the bottom. Our is at the top of the stairs and you have to pay attention. The door is slimmer and you might realize too, big deal I take some getting used to.

The gate we had was so difficult to use I would walk to the other end of our porch and down some stairs to the other exit to avoid the gate at our front stairs.After struggling with a standard baby gate for a month I saw this gate at my daughters home. She uses 4 of them to keep my granddaughter off the stairs and at the front door. I was impressed at how easy it was for even the other children to use and because of that they never left the gate open if they were going to only be a minute and then they would be back. It was so easy! Ordered it on line and and picked it up at the store. I love the easy lift latch! The lock feature makes it secure from my granchildren but its easy enough for an adult to use with one hand

We are using this to keep animals of various sizes (cats and dogs) from being either inside the bedroom or outside, without having to keep the door shut.. Having tried several other barricades, which were either difficult open and close, ugly, or not sturdy enough, we bought this and are highly satisfied. It is very easy to put up, adjust easily to different different widths of the hallway or the door opening, is good-looking, sturdy, and very easy to open and close. The only problem we had with it is that small Chihuahua dogs can get their heads through, and, with some trouble, all the way through.

The gate's pass through works exactly as I was hoping. It's easily opened one handed. The gate itself is very sturdy. It's simple to set it up and very easy to use. I'm very happy with this product. If I decide I need a second gate, I will definitely get this one again.
