We bought this gate because we wouldn't have to drill holes into our banister at the stairs. That is a plus with this. Cons: The gate opening is very small, so if you're carrying your baby/carseat, diaper bag, and purse- or even just 1 of these things, it is very difficult to get through the "door" part of it, especially if you're using this gate on stairs. It is also difficult to open and close if your hands are full. I would recommend this gate for anywhere in the house besides at your stairs.

This is a strong and sturdy metal gate that you can walk through. It works great for us...so much that I bought two more! I plan on using them in several places in my house when my baby starts crawling and walking. I love it because you don't have to worry about crossing over it so it allows you to safely hold the baby while going through. I can operate it with one hand but it takes a little practice. It was easy to assemble and comes with some sort if extender, but I haven't used it. I looked at many gates before purchasing and this was the best one for the money. Great value in my opinion! Works great for small dogs too!

I had low expectation of the fit of this gate because of the many weird conditions of the bottom of our staircase. If nothing fits, I just bought this one because it's cheaper. But it turned out perfectly for us (note: we used wall protectors): 1) metal bar is thin, so it fits in a space where the clearing of the railing is only a little less than 3/4 of an inch. The edge of the rubber foot is a little outside the railing's edge, but it works, 2) our opening is 39 in, the maximum fit of this gate is 38.5 in, but because we used wall protectors, it fits no problem, without the protectors it seems fine as well, but we didn't tighten everything to try it, 3) unlike the other extra wide easy step gate we had, the hand lever has just the right amount of friction at the pivot, so if I lift it up, it stays up, it makes it easier to open the gate when I don't need to keep the kids out.

I had this shipped to store and had it in 5 days which was fine. Once put up it seemed sturdy and was easy to open and close. When searching for a gate I assumed all opened both ways which is my fault but I was disappointed to realize this only opened in one direction. Overall a great gate it just didn't work for us bc we needed a gate going to our kitchen so we go back and forth through it a lot and needed a two direction one :).

These gates are sturdy and fairly easy to open and close once installed. They are, however, somewhat time-consuming to install, and you wouldn't want to put them up and take them down frequently. We put 2 gates up when my 1-year-old grandson visited, and I had hoped we could take them down when he was asleep. Considering the time and effort to install them, this wasn't practical. They stayed up until grandson went home.

We have four of these gates in our home. They are study pressure mounted gates, the lock is secure, they can swing both ways but you can set it to make sure they only open one side and they hold tight, my curious one year old uses them to help stand up and leans back while holding them, I have no consents about the gates wavering. I like that I didn’t need to drill holes in my walls for them. I also like that they are aesthetically pleasing in our home

I bought 2 of these gates. Not impressed, my three year old figured out how to open it with in 10 mins. Now they are a pointless buy. They would be perfect probably for anyone gating off animals or children under 3 years of age as my daughter figured it out super fast. Ugh kids lol

I had this same model of gate up in my house in a doorway, to keep my dogs from moving too freely in the house. When the latch didn't release (after 10 years of use) I chose the same new model recently and wasn't disappointed. EASY to install, nice looking, works exactly as anyone would want - I would highly recommend this gate...all for a super reasonable price!

I bought this gate to keep my dogs from a section of my house. It works perfectly, even for the biggest dog who weighs 110 pounds! The smallest dog weighs 6 pounds and she cannot get through the bars of the gate. I had a different gate before but the big dog could push it down so I am extremely happy he can't do that with this one. I am also happy with the ease of opening this gate has. It was easy to put up so that is a plus too. I would definitely recommend this gate, whether you need it for a toddler or for your dog, it does the job.
