My water supply is from a well through a water softening device in which I used standard Norton Salt. Every so often laundry would come out of the washing machine with brown stains. Naturally it happened most when my daughter used the machine (because she uses the machine more than me) and her solution was all for her dad to buy a new washing machine! After some online research I discovered Norton had a solution to the problem. However my local Walmart did not stock rust removing pellets ,so for peace to return to my household, I drove 30 miles to a store that did. More expensive than the standard pellets, but in my opinion worth the extra money if your water is from a well. The good news is my local Walmart now stocks Rust Removing pellets.

Works great to keep your water not only soft but kills the rust. If you have a well that provides water to your house you might have iron in your water. I have been using this product for years in my well. On average you only need one bag a month, but ultimately depends on your water usage.

Maybe it's me or maybe it's the salt. I used to buy the regular stuff from the other big box store or the other subscription based box store. You will save a buck or two, but I noticed this salt to have a better quality, cleaner and not as rough or have excess salt/dust. With the W , I almost feel guilty having this delivered. Make sure you buy and add enough salt in the bin. It's got to be at least over half or 3/4 full. I noticed a change in water softness. Don't forget to also clean it as well.

the difference between this one and yellow Motans bag is very little, the fact , i used to get 4 bags a month, 2 of mortans $8 the green and than two of mortans yellow $6-7, this $40 a bag for essentials is ridiculous$160!!! to maintain my water??? i rather get the same brand that is just as good quality for normal price, i can go to tractor supply and they're still $8 i feel something needs to be done or people stop buying they will lower the prices, i myself bought out LOL when they went on clearance got them for $3 everyone advertised them for $$50!!! 2 months later they're back to their normal price, $20

Ordered 6, 40 lb bags of salt. Each bag of salt came in a large heavy wall box with 75' x1' brown packing paper. Enough packing material to fill 3, 32 gallon trash bins. Spent more time preparing packing for recycling than I usually spend picking up salt.

Don't ever see any rust in water or appliances but it's probably there. Been using regular Morton salt pellets in my cheap Kenmore unit for 18 years %26 it works like new. But it's a good idea to use a bag or so with Rust protection at least annually.

Makes the water softer and helps remove iron from your water. The biggest problem we have us finding the salt. So many places have stopped carrying the green bag. As long as I can order online, I guess that will be the way to buy it. That beats going around town trying to find it anyway.

Makes such a difference in my water! I have city water that smelled like straight chlorine. It was such hard water that it was hard for me to even work shampoo through my hair. It was drying out my daughters hair so much it was causing hair loss. I popped a few of these bags in the old water softener that I wasn’t even sure was functioning…. And it was like night and day. I could have cried I was so happy. Will continue to buy!

The salt is fine. The way Walmart packed it was not. They put each bag of salt in an individual box, then put 1 FLAT SHEET of packing paper on top of it. Which did absolutely nothing except let the salt roll around inside the boxes. As a result, 5 of the 6 bags of salt were broken open when they were delivered. I understand Walmart is trying to compete with Amazon delivery service. Unfortunately, Walmart is losing that competition hands down. This is the second delivery I have had from Walmart with poor packing. It will be my last!
