Too Many Shells!!!

I've purchased Sam's generic pecans before. Somewhat recently they've changed the bag branding and am curious if they've changed their pecan supplier. I'm pretty understanding if I fine one shell... but I've found more than a small handful. Very disappointed. I'm planning on returning the bag. This is too much of a teeth hazard for me and my kids.

Poor Quality!

I do not recommend purchasing or consuming this product. The pecans are very poor quality and I believe consuming them made me sick. I purchased a bag approximately 1 month ago. Due to my current diet plan, I eat pecans on a daily basis. After consuming this product, I noticed that I was experiencing unpleasant issues with my bowels that I had never experienced with other brands of pecans. The symptoms completely subsided when I stopped consuming the product. However, I decided to give the product another try, with the same results. Living in the south where pecans are grown, I know how a pecan should look and taste. This product is far from being normal and fresh. The pecans are shriveled, soft, have black spots and have an odd taste. Overall, the taste, appearance and texture of the pecan makes it clear that this product SHOULD NOT be on store shelves and certainly should not be consumed.

NOT 2 Pounds !

The last 2 bags had exactly 24 ounces, not 32 ounces (using two commercial scales on each bag). So I get 3 portions of 8 ounces after paying for 4 !! This was exactly 24 ounces in each bag which suggests this is no mistake. I will buy 2 more bags and see if I should start weighing more things from Sam's. It looks like their supplier is rather crooked.

Mine Are Good

Reading the other reviews, I can only assume I have been lucky? I have always had good tasting, and fresh tasting pecans. The price is roughly half of what the grocery stores charge. I eat 2 ounces per day for what some people say will improve your health.

Rubbery pecans

I bought these pecans shortly before Thanksgiving for a pecan pie. When I opened the package, I noticed that the pecans were rubbery. I normally have access to delicious fresh pecans and shell them myself, and I've never seen a rubbery one before now. The Member's Mark also aren't as tasty, but still seemed good.

Flavorful

I bought these in August 2017, I'm surprised to see all the negative experiences because I'm getting ready to get another bag. I eat by themselves, baking and toasting. I don't know about Youngs brand I see mentioned here, but I have no complaints and are a good value.

Love.

This last batch was larger nuts. They are consistently good pecans. Recipe: 2 cups pecans heated in a skillet add 1/4 cup Sam's maple syrup heat for a couple minutes until it drys a little, spread on parchment paper, let cool a bit, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, put in quart jar gently shake the sugar around and it keeps them from sticking together. Very addictive!!

Can usually tell by appearance

Went against my better judgment when buying these recently. Good pecans are normally light in color, while crummy pecans appear much darker. The bag reflected darker color pecans, but I bought anyway. They are simply terrible. Won't ever make this mistake again, nor will I buy this brand.

Inedible

My most recent order was a disappointment in that the pecans were small, withered and mostly inedible. The reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 star was that the prior order I would rate a 3. The order was placed in July anf the nuts appeared to be a couple years old, but the expiration date had worn off. I ordered them online.

Poor quality

"pecan halves" isn't an accurate description. There are a few halves in the package, but it's mostly little pieces with pieces of shells. The meats are shriveled, and many are partly black. In a pecan processing shed, these would be graded as culls, not to be offered for sale. I have purchased these several times, thinking the next bag surely will be better, but not so.
