Meldew Pecans

Sometimes these pecans are pretty good and sometimes they are really bad. Nobody can tell me that who ever are packaging these pecans doesn't notice all those dried out pecans that are black, blue and sometimes green and smelling like mildew. No you can't tell me you don't know because you do, you just don't care because if you cared you would do better and now that you know I hope your pecans get better you all should be ashamed of yourselves taking peoples money and giving them your junk money is hard to come by and if it was easy to come by I don't like wasting what is mines. PEOPLE DO BETTER

Mine Are Good

Reading the other reviews, I can only assume I have been lucky? I have always had good tasting, and fresh tasting pecans. The price is roughly half of what the grocery stores charge. I eat 2 ounces per day for what some people say will improve your health.

Molded Pecans

Just over a month ago, I purchased the pecans for the first time at Sam's. For years, I purchased bulk pecans at another big box retailer, but thought I would try these. After approximately three weeks, there was enormous mold growth on them. I took several pics, but won't bother to gross anyone out. I'm hoping the store will follow up with their growers and incorporate any quality control measures that will help to avoid this in the future. I love Sam's, but I was fully alarmed and disgusted with the pecans.

Unsatisfactory product

I recently purchased the 2# bag of Member's Mark pecan halves and used some of them Thanksgiving Day to make a sweet potato casserole. I was very disappointed when I immediately had to throw away a handful of pecans. The pecans were dry, shriveled and dark in color. Some of them were part black in color, as if they had a blight. I hurriedly picked out a cup of suitable pecans and haven't gone through the bag to check out the remainder. I expected more from Sam's Club and this is the first product I've been really disappointed with. Perhaps I just received a bad bag, but I don't plan to buy more to see.

Shells

Has anyone else noticed more shells in these pecans lately. I have been buying these for probably a decade (good flavor, good price), but recently, the last 4 bags over the last year has seen more than an occasional shell fragment, where as before, I rarely found shells. I wonder if processing has changed.

OK until you get a rancid one

Terrible. The old brand would sometimes have dried up pecans, but the last few bags I've purchased have more than a few that were actually rancid. They have a horrible sour/bitter taste that you can't get out of your mouth. I made the mistake of buying sunflower seeds from a bulk weigh-your-own bin at another store once that had the same issue. The oil in some of the nuts in the bag has gone bad. This is a producer's issue and seems to be ongoing. I won't be trying them again. Really disappointing.

Dreadful - last two bags returned!

Since Sam's Club begin selling the pecans under their own "Member's Mark" brand, these pecans have become far worse and we have had to return the last two bags we purchased (one was rancid and the other had a flat, stale taste). I did receive a refund for both bags after two chat sessions, but felt that I deserved a little extra compensation, after all of my time and trouble with two bags in a row. The last chat agent claimed that he could not offer anything extra, though. Makes me question why I am paying a membership fee to shop here. We will have to purchase our pecans at another store, evidently. Sam's has let us down on this item! If Sam's happens to again sell the pecans under a name brand, we might try them again.

32 oz Bag of Pecans Does NOT Have 32 oz of Pecans

Just by chance I weighed a bag of the Member's Mark Fancy Pecan Halves and discovered that the bag was 2.5 oz short of 32 oz. Hum.... I then weighed 5 more bags and discovered they too averaged 2.5 oz less than advertised. I figure since I bought 12 bags for Christmas nut gifts I am owed a free bag. DISAPPOINTED!!!

Obviously better than old reviews stated

After reading available reviews of these pecan halves, I was somewhat reluctant to buy them since no-one wants old, stale pecans. However after seeing that most of these reviews were five years old, or older, I took a chance and ordered a package. They were available at our local Sams and at a decent price and were VERY GOOD and FRESH! The only way to get fresher pecans would be to pick them off of the tree yourself and shell them. Here's hoping that Sams will update their site and show some more recent reviews.
