I have had Starbucks Sumatra in K-cups and it is just as good as brewing it in a drip brew machine. That being said, I don't indulge in the K-cup concept because the price per cup compared to brewing a full pot is ridiculous. Since between myself and my wife we easily go through a full pot every morning we would go broke buying this. BUT if you are a 1 or 2 cup a day person this would make sense so that you get that "fresh brewed" essence in every cup. I wish Sam's would have this in the bagged coffees instead of (or in addition to - maybe as "online only"?) so until then I will remain a customer of that other site - the one named for a river....

This is one of my two favorite coffees from Starbucks and is a tie with Komodo Dragon. This is coffee at its best, strong and bold with rich coffee flavor. I don't agree that it has a spicy, dried herbs or earth (do they eat dirt?)flavor; just a wonderful wake-you-up coffee.

I am a bit coffee crazy and I especially love an overly strong cup of it. I have tried all Starbucks available darkroasts as well as several other pricier specialty small roasters coffees. Of them all, I keep going Back to Sumatran. This has a nice strong flavor but is very smooth with no acidic after taste, no pungent burnt taste and it has really pleasant flavor notes. This is the perfect dark roast to sip on.

I'm so disappointed to learn that Starbucks is discontinuing sales of Sumatra Decal...possibly all beans by the pound. I've been buying solely this for over ten years. I see from other reviews, I'm not alone. Starbucks!!! What gives. I know you'll be loosing business as I now have to find something else. So sad. It's the BEST coffe ever. I have converted multiple friends to Sumatra. What will we do? Bring it back PLEASE!!!

This is the best coffee that I have ever drank. Although now my Doctor says that I have start drinking decaf. That's ok, I will still be buying. It is a smooth bold flavor that does not leave a bitter after taste. It last me for over a month sometimes. Great Quality!!!

As a long time lover of dark roast coffee, sumatra just does not make the grade. It is a good medium roast. Many coffee shops serve it as their medium roast while serving true dark roasts ie. French,Italian, Espresso, as their dark. If you want proof, simply look at the beans - they are brown in colour, not black like true dark roast beans are.

I was pleasantly surprised by this roast of coffee, I am a regular espresso drinker and was given Sumatra as a gift. It is my new favourite roast! I will buy this from now on for use in my espresso machine. The bold flavourful roast makes my espresso taste bland....it is simply amazing! If you have not tried this kind of coffee try it now!

I drink only Sumatra now. The low acidity combined with the flavor is heavenly. Request a Sumatra Pour-Over the next time you want a wonderful cup of coffee. It doesn't get any fresher!!! If you are told they don't have Sumatra beans available for pour-over ask that they open a bag. It's work the extra few minutes for this cup of coffee!!

We love the strong, dark roast of this coffee. It is high in acidity but we have figured out to blend it with the Komodo Dragon witch is equally strong and bold but lower in acid. The great pairing results in a strong, bold flavor with a much milder acidity level.
