I don't like that Sumatra is placed in the same category as Starbuck's other Dark Roasts (like Verona and Espresso) because it tastes completely different to all of them save Kimodo Dragon. It tastes so earthy, in a good way. The Asian/Pacific coast grown coffee beans must be from such rich Volcanic earth. Every cup brings me back to my vacation in Hawaii where Kona coffee was served with every breakfast meal. It's well balanced and smooth too.The K-cup is a great way to enjoy a single serving.

The first task in the morning is to brew a pot of Sumatra. We grind the beans fresh for each pot to ensure our coffee is full-bodied and perfect every time. We have always enjoyed a dark-roasted brew with a earthy aroma and Sumatra definitely provides that. Being retired, we often have a cup or two before breakfast while we are catching-up on the weather. Then we share another cup with breakfast. It's our way for starting a day.

I signed on for a "tour" of the dark roast coffees.. Sumatra is one of the choices. I'm glad I tried it, but I could only recommend it to those who want a "tamer" dark roast. I love the aroma of dark roast coffee. And the flavor is every bit as amazing as the aroma. It's something I never grow tired of... But... It seems to me the only one's that have it are the Italian and French roasts. I like my coffee to taste no less roasted than an espresso bean. This one misses the mark. Not that the flavor is 'bad," It just isn't my cup of tea...uh...coffee. Sumatra is better pressed than "espressed." If I had no Italian or French around, I'd drink it. It's not a favorite, but it is full-bodied and has some excellent flavor tones. Perhaps I have a dead palate, but I much prefer the smokier coffees. So...If you like your coffee darker, but not smokey, this would be one you'd want to try. While I wouldn't unconditionally recommend it, it is an excellent choice for those who are "bolder," but still a bit reserved.

Sumatra coffee is great for people with Acid reflex. It has a sweet, mildly spicy and very smooth flavor with a caffeine punch! I have no problems with acid reflux with this coffee due to it belong low in acid and will recommend this coffee to anyone. Once you try it there is no other that can top its flavor.

I'm so disappointed to learn that Starbucks is discontinuing sales of Sumatra Decal...possibly all beans by the pound. I've been buying solely this for over ten years. I see from other reviews, I'm not alone. Starbucks!!! What gives. I know you'll be loosing business as I now have to find something else. So sad. It's the BEST coffe ever. I have converted multiple friends to Sumatra. What will we do? Bring it back PLEASE!!!

first, we enjoy bold, full bodied coffee. with our new keurig, three or four "bold" coffees were included, and except for the starbucks french roast, really didn't satisfy for that full flavor. so starbucks french roast was our favorite, until we happened on sumatra. this coffe has a bold, yet smooth flavor...not bitter, no aftertaste. we prepare our coffee on the 7 ounce menu setting of the keurig, using purified water #we have notoriously hard water#. well the brew is just excellent. bold is not for every palate...but for us this coffee is nirvana!!

This coffee has such a wonderful smell and a terrific taste. I have been using this particular coffee for over 30 years and it has never let me down. Of course there are different types of Sumatran coffees ( from different regions ), but whatever region you buy from, IT IS WORTH IT!! It can also be brewed in several different ways. I prefer the 'French press' method however you can also get a great cup using the drip method, the pour over( Melitta) method, even the Keurig makes a great cup of coffee! and of course, if any of those methods are not available to you, if the grind is proper, you can even use the 'cowboy' method. By just steeping the coffee in a pot. Any way, this is a great coffee with a fantastic smell when you first open the bag, a great aroma after brewing, and a wonderful taste! Try it, you'll love it and use it as you like. I only use after dinner, otherwise I drink Colombian Supremo as my 'wake up' coffee, sometimes mixing it with about 20 percent French Roast.

i love decaf sumatra unfortunatly you seem to have discontinued it it is the dark thick strong coffee that most globetrotters love, the expresso blend isnt ldark and strong enough at all. please bring back a truely stong dark decaf like sumatra. oh yeah and make more fun double walled travel mugs that fit under an expresso maker, And maybe you could spnsor one expresso maker so people can find and buy one!!! thats all;) sincerely, truely addicted

This is by far my favorite "strong" brew coffee without any bitterness that usually comes with other bold flavored coffee. If you enjoy a full bodied dark roast, this is for you. Cafe Veronia and Italiian Roast are great too but this brew has more of a full bodied flavor of even those. Beware, if you don't like dark full bodied coffee, then Sumatra definately isn't for you.
