Great expectations; very disappointing

We couldn't have have been happier to see the new lightweight product. Unfortunately, after 2 purchases, we won't buy again. Despite saying 99.9% dust free, it's the first time our cat has tracked white litter dust throughout the house on dark floors and it looks like a mushroom cloud when you scoop. Also, the scent is so strong it's like living in a box of tide detergent. We can't get away from it and my wife's allergic. (The litter box is about 25 feet away from our bed in a bathroom, but the soap smell is overwhelming).

Not the same as 24/7 normal weight

The lightweight feature is absolutely great and the wet litter doesn't stick to the sides of the box but it doesn't compare to the other tidy cats I've purchased in the past. The odor control is horrible and it definitely tracks much more. Fix these problems and we'll definitely change back, until that time we'll be changing back to our own litter in less than a weeks time. :(

Good and bad

I tried this for more than a season (late-Autumn through beginning of April). At first I was very impressed. The weight alone is a huge selling point. I almost flipped the litter box over the first time I went to clean it, having not realized just how light it would be. It clumps about as well as the regular Tidy Cat I used before, but what didn't clump (usually against the sides) cleaned up (wiped off) much more easily. There is a slight odor that the cats didn't mind at all (they took to the new litter as soon as I put the new box on the floor), and it took me a little bit of time to get used to. I'd describe that odor as somewhat like chlorophyll (but I'm no chemist). I do believe that I spent more money on litter over my trial period, although that is not the most important factor. At first impression, I thought the litter was a little more dusty. I could see this when I poured it into the box, as well as when I scooped out the used litter. Unfortunately, this became much more evident as time went on, judging by the accumulation of dust on everything else in the room. Mostly for that reason (the dust) I have decided to switch litters yet again. Good thing both cats, although very elderly, are easy-to-please. I still do recommend to people to try this for themselves, especially anyone who wants something very lightweight.

Works very well!

I tried this for the first time about 2 weeks ago and this litter stayed fresh smelling for about 10 days, which is amazing to me. I have had cats my entire life and this stuff is the best. Like any litter though it must be scooped daily to reach maximum potential.

Works in automatic litter box

The regular Tidy Cats clumping litter clumps so hard, it ruins the take motor of an automatic litter box, but the lightweight type proved to be good for such. It's too bad it's so much more expensive. Claims it's the equivalent of 42 lbs of regular cat litter---NOT! Doesn't last as long as the regular Tidy Cat.

Wanted to like it but I hate it.

My hubby bought the lightweight since my grocery store was out of the 24/7 scoop able when I was shopping earlier. My first experience was when I went to scoop the box was the added fragrance is so strong, there is no advertising of that on the package either. I have a cat with a sensitive nose and she will refuse most scented litters, my main reason for purchasing tidy cat brands. Then the amount of dust trying to scoop the box is toxic I could help inhaling it I feel awful for my cats. It does clump well but that's the only nice thing I can say about it.

Good for Light weight litter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the idea of light weight litter for the ease of transporting it from the store to my home, but I just wish my cats liked it as much as traditional clumping litter. This one was a good one though!

Odor control

Tidy Cats litter used to work great with my older cat, but the only product that works somewhat with my young cat is the ammonia blocker. But, it's so fine that I lose more of the litter scooping because more sticks together. I have to scrub her box every 5 days n throw out all the litter.

Horrible Perfume Odor and Terrible Tracking

I have had cats for my entire life and was intrigued by the idea that there was a new light weight litter...so I bought a container to try. It totally is NOT worth the price. The litter absorbs pretty well, but the perfume was so strong and the odor was continuous...it gave me a headache! And this litter tracks terribly. I was forever trying to clean up the tracked particles. I would NOT recommend it.

Four cats, seven litter boxes, now they smell

Succumbed to the lightweight tag - it's lightweight because it does NOT control the odor - have always used Fresh step, and sifting liners, and for the first time my house smells like cat litter - guests were always shocked that I had four cats - NOT ANYMORE! Now I have to buy another 80.00 of fresh step, and do all the changing again!
