My stepmom mentioned ensure and from that point on, 3 months before my heart surgery, my main nourishment was strawberry ensure. It helped me believe that I was getting enough nutrition to hang in long enough to find out what was wrong with me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I have been drinking the shakes for about three years, it has prevented having high fat content breakfasts. My wife passed away in June of this year from pneumonia and Afib. While in the hospital she was given Ensure with a light breakfast, to provide much needed vitamin content as she had not been eating. During her stay she started to gain weight and strength. She was instructed to continue with Ensure. It was unfortunate that two weeks later she passed away from heart failure. I continue drink an Ensure to this day.
