You are really trying to tell us that this formulation was a result of consumer reviews? Who the heck did you survey- people who don’t possess taste buds? This dreck is abominable. I have been buying your product for over 60 years. They used to taste just like the beans I get at my local Mexican restaurant. That place is run by a Mexican family. I figure they have a clue about how to make refried beans. Too bad you don’t. Are you all from NYC or some such place? Try feeding this product to folks down in west Texas or Albuquerque, New Mexico. I would advise you to sit close to the door unless you like riding a rail out of town. I used to purchase a number of your products, but after this experience I cannot trust you to provide an authentic taste experience. You should change your brand name so that your customers won’t expect any resemblance to authentic tastes. Tell your food taster to put up a sign - remember new Coke! Congratulations on losing loyal customers. Right after a pandemic too. Sheer marketing genius- not!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use Old El Paso Refried Beans to make bean dip to serve with tacos. I use my hand blender to make it smooth. I add some salsa and put it in a bowl. I top with sour cream, cheese and tidbits of tomatoes, green pepper and blank olives. Serve with tortilla chips. Yum.

I’ve tried the store brands and they’re not even close to restaurant quality plus lots of water in the can. El Paso Refried Beans have come closest to the ones in the restaurant. I usually go through one can a week whether it’s with rice, in a burrito, a dip with nachos or a quesadilla.

I have been eating the original recipe since I was a child and loved them! I opened this new can and immediately smelled different, I went ahead and heated them and tried to eat it on my burritos but it is just atrocious! Whoever decided to redo something that was great needs their taste buds checked because this new recipe has the scent of pee on a San Francisco sidewalk in the summer and doesn't taste much better, please change it back. I will be trying other brands until these are fixed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Actually Old El Paso is the best refried beans I've bought and I've tried various brands. I like the consistency and the flavor. And the price is not much different than anywhere else so economical also. I would recommend it all day long.

Something very bad has happened to these. I've used these beans for decades but the last few cans I bought were inedible. I ruined a labor-intensive dinner for guests. Inedible and embarrassing. I thought they had gone bad or something. Opened the rest of the cans I bought to check- all of them taste horrible, like botulism-level horrible. Something is wrong.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Anytime I'm in the mood to make my 7-Layer dip or some nachos, I always use the Old El Paso refried beans. I love the taste of it and it lasts a long time. I definitely suggest using this product for your Mexican dishes.

Gross! I opened up a can of these today on 6/9/21 and as they were heating up I thought omg they’re ruined, they smell awful! I went and checked the date on the can and it was 2022. They smell like they are spoiled. I tasted them and almost gagged! I thought well maybe it’s me…i had my son taste them and he said they smelled bad and tasted like wet paper. Will never buy these again. We use them for tostadas and have for years but we’ll have to find a different brand. Consistency is different too.

I just bought 2 cans of old el paso refried beans for toastadas tonight and wow. The whole family about gaged. They smell like poop. The expiration date is Aug2024 so why are they rotten? Did they grind up a rat carcass or something or are their employees actually sh#$ing in the beans??? Apparently there is no quality control of their product despite whatever claims they make. I'll NEVER buy this brand ever again.
