Inconceivably bad

Ever wonder just how bad a can of refried beans can be? Try Old El Paso and find out! I truly don't understand what went wrong with this can of mashed beans. They're not only bland, they're somehow also terrible. I tried adding some additional spices, even some minced onion, but nothing can mask the inexplicably bad flavor. Old El Paso, I don't know what you are doing to these poor beans, but please stop.

Refried Beans and Tacos

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We often invite friends over for Taco Tuesdays, Thursdays, or just about any day! I love Old El Paso Refried Beans. I have found them to be the best quality and well worth a few extra cents a can from the generic brands.

Awful Traditional Refried Beans

We bought Refried Beans to use as a layer on our Nachos. It’s usually thick and has lots of beans. This can was a watery, sloppy mess. I stirred up from the bottom but it made no difference. It was a loose paste with very few beans. I looked online and noticed that El Paso brand had a recall for this product in October 2022 for possible botulism and was concerned we had just eaten contaminated beans. Then I went to the website and noticed many customers complaining about watery new recipe refried beans, so I’m assuming that was the problem. We won’t be buying El Paso Brand again and we have used them for years.

Disgusting

I love refried beans. As I recall these used to be good. But when I cooked a can today, and licked the spoon, I was immediately repulsed. It tasted like melted plastic. I checked the expiration date, still good until August of 2023. I thought maybe it was just me, had my mother taste it, and she thought the same thing. Something is seriously off. I cooked them and thought..maybe that's just how they taste cold. Nope, still disgusting. As I see in your reviews, literally no one is happy with these changes you made based on so-called customer polls. I guess I haven't had it since you changed recipes? But I guarantee you the majority of the consumers did not request for it to taste like plastic chemicals. Due to overwhelming consumer demands, perhaps change this new recipe. Until then I will no longer be a consumer, and I will let everyone know. Thanks!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good look. Tastes good. Nice color. My family enjoy eating this brand. I don't buy refried beans from another brand. I would recommend this for those who like refried beans. A good tasting can of beans

Runny

What the heck?! I've been buying Old El Paso Refried Beans for forever. I went to the grocery store yesterday and bought two cans. Both were runny when I opened them. The taste was adequate but not like before. Hard to make beef/bean burritos when the refried beans are like soup. I see by other reviews this has been going on for a long time. Guess I'll buy another brand unless you can up your game and bring back the refried beans like they were before. As info, my cans were marked with 230 and expiration date of 21 Jan 2024

El paso has the best refried beans

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to read label which helps with choosing from all the varieties. Easy open can. The beans are not only tasty but just the right consistency. Quick and easy to prepare! Family always wants refried beans on taco night.

Best flavored brand

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old El Paso is my favorite brand of refried beans. They are not watered down and bland, like other brands. Nor are they over-spiced. I like the traditional ones most often, so that I can season them how I like.

Very versatile kitchen staple. Great tasting!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these refried beans! Perfect base on a tostado. Great as a side dish. A stick to your ribs kind of food. Add chili and cheese and turn them into a main dish as well. Use them as a dip for tortilla chips. Just heat and eat.
