We enjoy using these refried beans as a side to enchiladas and tacos. Quick and easy to wrap with shredded cheese in a low-carb tortilla, microwave, and have a fast, nutritious snack to go.

Gross! I opened up a can of these today on 6/9/21 and as they were heating up I thought omg they’re ruined, they smell awful! I went and checked the date on the can and it was 2022. They smell like they are spoiled. I tasted them and almost gagged! I thought well maybe it’s me…i had my son taste them and he said they smelled bad and tasted like wet paper. Will never buy these again. We use them for tostadas and have for years but we’ll have to find a different brand. Consistency is different too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are by far my daughter’s favorite refried beans. She loves bean burritos and this is her go to with cheese and mild sauce inside too. They are quite thick and can be thinned out to the desired consistency with water or taco sauce.

Used as a base on nachos or as side refried beans are a must. While I prefer making my own, this is a great time saver.

I would recommend them to anyone and I have recommended them to family and friends. We warm them up and eat them with nothing else sometimes. There is nothing that I dislike about them. They always bring something great to our plates.

We easily mix them up with our hamburger meat without clumping or drying out the mixture. Our favorite is the Old El Paso green chiles refried beans, but the traditional works just as well.

Their "New Recipe" is nothing more than "Now with more water!" As other reviewers have stated, the changes they've made to this product have resulted in driving customers away. My biggest regret is that we bought a 6-pack at our local warehouse store. We'll be donating these to the food bank as I can't imagine ever wanting to open another can in our house. Enjoy the couple of pennies you saved as your sales dwindle.

I just bought a can of these refried beans. I have eaten these many times throughout the years. I started panicking because when I took a bite it tasted like soap or bleach or something of that sort? I at first wondered if this was botulism but after doing some research and not having a damaged can, I see that within the last week there have been others who have stated that theirs also taste like chemicals! I don't know what is going on but I hope my boyfriend and I will be okay after taking a few bites. I'll probably be up all night worried about it.

There are some large bean pieces, but not many. These beans also work well to make homemade nachos topped with onion, green chiles and shredded cheddar.

I have been a loyal fan of Old El Paso beans for dozens of years -- a couple years ago the reformulated and really messed them up with runny beans. Then they introduced a new and 'improved' version (I contacted them on the first screw-up) that has the right consistency but a terrible tinny/metallic taste. We buy these in 6 packs - so very familiar with the product - I am officially done with this product - awful.
