Honestly this change ruined the beans for us. We don't like it anymore. The smell right out of the can is cheap. The taste and texture are horrible. Were you trying to save some money on the production? The only way this could have worked was if everyone lost their taste buds to Covid.

I spice up a bit & use in soft tortillas or as a side dish or with Taco chips, salsa, cheese, guac etc. Taste great warmed with plain real Greek Yogurt and Mexican melted cheese. I prefer the Greek yogurt. the Greek yogurt compliments the bean flavor well.Try it!

Bought some of the original refried beans thinking nothing of it since I’ve always love this brand, but I quickly changed my mind when I heated them to make some bean tostadas. The smell is something I’ve never smelled before in a can of refried beans, but the taste is even worse it was definitely something I wasn’t expecting. A thumbs down for me :( they just don’t taste the same as I remember them tasting.

Bought these beans two weeks ago. Opened one can two days after purchase and they smelled and tasted nasty. Opened the second can at the same time and they had the same smell and taste. Then, after removing the beans from the cans, I noticed the two rotten-looking spots in each. Nasty.

We add Queso and a side of guacamole and salsa for a nice side with nachos. We have tried other brands but old El Paso is by far the best!

Less than a month ago, I bought these beens at a local grocer. The expiration date was March 2023. I cooked them tonight and I noticed a lot more juice/water but didn't think much of it until my son said they were terrible. Refried beans are usually his fav. I tasted them too and they had a really odd flavor. I assumed they went bad and were defected but after reading these reviews. I am not so sure.

I made small street tacos with beans, cheese, salsa and a bit of sour cream. The beans make for a very easy quick supper or snack and still pack a hit of protein.

The bean consistency is thick but not too thick and the beans are evenly mashed. I use my for nachos, 7-layer dip, or inside a tortilla. Delicious every time!
