Grew up eating these bean and would on occasion try off brands only to be disappointed. Oh how the tables have flipped...I really can’t add anything that ALL of the other reviews say...but these new beans remind me of a large cola product company that came out with a NEW product and similarly failed miserably. I can only hope that the geniuses behind the change in recipe are ridiculed in the future when the original recipe comes back.

Less than a month ago, I bought these beens at a local grocer. The expiration date was March 2023. I cooked them tonight and I noticed a lot more juice/water but didn't think much of it until my son said they were terrible. Refried beans are usually his fav. I tasted them too and they had a really odd flavor. I assumed they went bad and were defected but after reading these reviews. I am not so sure.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old El Paso Traditional Refried Beans is a favorite of mine. Every can is a perfect solution for a delicious lunch or snack. The bean consistency is thick but not too thick and the beans are evenly mashed. I use my for nachos, 7-layer dip, or inside a tortilla. Delicious every time!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had these beans several time. Flavor is yummy and consistent. I guess my only complaint is I want more whole beans and not as much mushed beans. But for burritos and nachos these do work well.

I opened the can and thought they had gone bad due to the awful smell! The expiration date not until 2023, so why do they smell & taste bad? I went to Google and researched this question. New recipe! I guess I'm not the only one who won't be buying this product anymore unless it goes back to previous recipe. If that happens some national commercial would help to inform us. I'll still buy the seasoning packets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] El Paso is my go-to for refried beans. They are consistently thick and taste amazing. We love to eat them covered in taco flavored cheese and onions and sour cream. They also are great as an addition to burritos and tacos.

I’ve been buying Old El Paso products for YEARS! Tonight, I opened a can of the traditional refried beans and they were TERRIBLE!!!! They weren’t runny like I’ve read in some recent reviews, they just tasted AWFUL!!! Threw them in the trash because my entire family refused to eat them. If this is a result of a recipe change, they need to consider changing back to the original recipe before they lose all of their brand loyal customers!!! I’m out!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the texture and the taste. Some brands are very bland but this was really good. Also, instead of being all “mush” it still had some actual beans in it. We like to spread on our soft tacos or mix with rice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our go too for taco night. Just open and re great and they are done. I've tried the low fat version and it's disgusting so I wouldn't recommend it. It does have a bit of oil on top but I just drain it.
