I am literally crying right now... I'm a transplant Texan that .....since I'm in Florida nowadays.....really looks forward to my traditional Texican foods. And I guess my first impulse was like everyone else's- that the can I just bought was somehow bad. But I guess my days of relying on Old El Paso are over for now, so so sorry to say.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These refried beans are great. I use them all the time in my taco dip. I mix 1 can with 1 pkg cream cheese and spread in the bottom of casserole dish. Add a layer of your favorite salsa and a little chopped cilantro. Next add a layer of taco meat and top with a Mexican cheese blend and bake 30 minutes at 350*. Server with tortilla chips, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives or whatever toppings you like.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old El Paso Traditional Refried Beans were a convenient addition to our pulled pork nachos. I cannot speak as to how they would be on their own, but with additions such as cheese, salsa, and jalapenos the beans contributed to a tasty dish.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve tried many other brands of refried beans but these by far are the best!! They are full of flavor with a nice smooth not grainy or gritty texture like the cheaper brands. As close to authentic as you can get.

We've been enjoying Old El Paso Refried Beans for years. We've had them several times a week--in tacos, burritos, or huevos rancheros. Not any more! Today, I opened a can and discovered what other reviewers here have said--a totally different product. It's all runny, with way more water, way less beans. I opened a second can: same runny substance. Maybe skimping on ingredients raises the profit margin. But I'm now a disappointed (and formerly loyal) customer. We'll change to Rosarita, Bush's, or some other brand that actually has beans in their "refried beans."

We bought Refried Beans to use as a layer on our Nachos. It’s usually thick and has lots of beans. This can was a watery, sloppy mess. I stirred up from the bottom but it made no difference. It was a loose paste with very few beans. I looked online and noticed that El Paso brand had a recall for this product in October 2022 for possible botulism and was concerned we had just eaten contaminated beans. Then I went to the website and noticed many customers complaining about watery new recipe refried beans, so I’m assuming that was the problem. We won’t be buying El Paso Brand again and we have used them for years.

We make about 30 burritos at a time and freeze them. They make a quick meal if you add chips, salsa and salad. They are a quick snack too. The Old El Paso beans are smooth, creamy and easy to use. They add the perfect touch!
