[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old el Paso taste the best of all refried beans that I have tried. Not dry like other brands. I recommend old el Paso brand over any other brand. You will find that the taste is so much better than other brands.

Admittedly it has been awhile since buying this product. When my daughter needed soft foods after getting her wisdom teeth removed, I thought this would be a great source of protein. I was first disappointed by the texture. It’s very inconsistent but even worse was the taste. They had an awful, almost metallic taste and were inedible. I realize it could have been a bad batch but who wants to waste money taking a chance on a canned product being good? Definitely not the quality product I remembered them to be.

I’ve tried the store brands and they’re not even close to restaurant quality plus lots of water in the can. El Paso Refried Beans have come closest to the ones in the restaurant. I usually go through one can a week whether it’s with rice, in a burrito, a dip with nachos or a quesadilla.

I bought this can today in hopes of having great refried beans like at a Mexican restaurant. Excited to get into my dinner, the beans weren’t what my taste buds were hoping for. They taste old and has NO flavor. I will not be buying this item anymore.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been trying to increase my protein intake and these were a great addition to tacos! A couple of my kiddos aren’t that great at eating a lot of protein either so I mixed it in with their taco meat and they didn’t even notice! Great product!

I bought a can last week to use for some nachos…the smell alone opening the can had me checking to make sure they weren’t expired. I didn’t experience the super watery, runny beans some reviews mentioned, but as others have strongly stated, the smell is awful and the taste isn’t better. Someone said it smelled like urine on a sidewalk, someone else said they noticed a chemical smell. Honestly I thought of toilet bowl cleaner so it’s not like they aren’t onto something. After googling to make sure there was no recall on this brand of beans, I tried doctoring them up with cheese, hot sauce etc. Not worth it, it didn’t work. Definitely learned my lesson.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These taste good and have the lowest amount of carbs per serving of other refried beans. Wish it didn’t have hydrogenated lard and sugar added. But these work very well for the enchiladas that I make.

I have been buying these beans for years. Recently I have bought them on 2 different occasions for 2 different stores and they have been horrible. Both can were watery and had a chemical taste and smell. They were so bad that we through them out after cooking a tasting them. I won’t be buying these ever again!
