I bought a can last week to use for some nachos…the smell alone opening the can had me checking to make sure they weren’t expired. I didn’t experience the super watery, runny beans some reviews mentioned, but as others have strongly stated, the smell is awful and the taste isn’t better. Someone said it smelled like urine on a sidewalk, someone else said they noticed a chemical smell. Honestly I thought of toilet bowl cleaner so it’s not like they aren’t onto something. After googling to make sure there was no recall on this brand of beans, I tried doctoring them up with cheese, hot sauce etc. Not worth it, it didn’t work. Definitely learned my lesson.

I wasn't sure what the issue was. I thought maybe it was some. But now I am thinking it's these beans. I ate a good amount of a can last night and got super sick within seconds and needed to use the restroom. Later that night and all of today all I can taste is a metallic taste. I am not starting to think it's from these!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is another exceptional option along with vegetarian and green chili types. They are all just as delicious and great option on weight watchers. Use in several dishes but overall favorite is making tostadas.

Don’t expect large pieces of beans. We have purchased these in the past and we always buy old El Paso brand when we prepare this style of food. I would recommend this product.

Very disappointed. July, 2023 bought large can of Old El Paso and when I opened it the contents was so soupy. The consistency has always been solid but not this time. Now what brand to go to. Always counted on this brand for years. What happened????

Loved the texture, taste, not much oil was in the can. Other brand, I would have to strain the oil out before heating them up. I will definitely be purchasing this Brand from now on!

While my husband isn't a fan of beans, my girls and I fill our tacos with the beans and just a little taco meat on top. I haven't tried any other recipes with refried beans in them but I am definitely going to take a look on how to incorporate them more.

Something very bad has happened to these. I've used these beans for decades but the last few cans I bought were inedible. I ruined a labor-intensive dinner for guests. Inedible and embarrassing. I thought they had gone bad or something. Opened the rest of the cans I bought to check- all of them taste horrible, like botulism-level horrible. Something is wrong.
