I cant believe how disgusting this new recipe is!!!!! my son doesn't eat meat so every taco night he has had these beans, for years now.... Until Now ! I don't even know were to begin ,the smell is nauseating an the taste i cant even explain!! Please Please go back to the old YUMMY recipe!!!!!!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love Old El Paso refried beans! No taco bash is complete without them. Their consistency is not too creamy so they spread well on a taco or tostado shell. I always look for Old El Paso brand when it’s taco night.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old El Paso Refried Beans have much more of a rich flavor than the other brands that I have tasted. They are very creamy! Top them with a little Mexican shredded cheese and you will not be disappointed!!

We have been buying the traditional refried beans for years and now the flavor is AWFUL what did you guys do. We couldnt even eat them tonight that's how bad the flavor was. Not to mention they looked horrible too. We checked the expiration date and we still had 2 years so I cant blame that.

I’ve tried the store brands and they’re not even close to restaurant quality plus lots of water in the can. El Paso Refried Beans have come closest to the ones in the restaurant. I usually go through one can a week whether it’s with rice, in a burrito, a dip with nachos or a quesadilla.

I haven't bought Old El Paso Refried Beans (traditional) in awhile. Opened a can last night 1-2-2024 and the beans smelled awful. A very metalliac smell. I thought it was just me but husband could smell it too. I warmed them up and no change in the smell. I did taste the beans but it tasted bad as well, that metal taste. I have another can I bought at the same time, but nervous about eating it. Probably will go in the trash.

I just bought a can of these refried beans. I have eaten these many times throughout the years. I started panicking because when I took a bite it tasted like soap or bleach or something of that sort? I at first wondered if this was botulism but after doing some research and not having a damaged can, I see that within the last week there have been others who have stated that theirs also taste like chemicals! I don't know what is going on but I hope my boyfriend and I will be okay after taking a few bites. I'll probably be up all night worried about it.

I have eaten these refried beans for decades. Now that you've changed the recipe they are inedible. They smell like chemicals and taste bland then leave a horrid aftertaste in your mouth. They have a watery layer on top and have ruined mealtime now. I've had to throw away casseroles. Never buying again unless the tried and true recipe is reinstated . Such a pity to mess with perfection. The smell and taste are just unbelievable now. So sad I have to buy the unknown but I dont like chemical tastes in my food.

It should get a zero. We are long term users of Old El Paso traditional refried beans. There was NO TASTE and the texture wasn't cohesive and firm like usual. We thought it was spoiled. We have a few more cans and will ask for our money back and not purchase OEP again. Did no one check this? Also - unfair - in order to get refund - must have receipt - why would I keep one for a product I stock in my pantry? A really big mistake folks.
