I wish I had read reviews, but why would I. Been buying this brand for years. Opened up the can, all this liquid surfaced to the top, which was odd to me since never did before.I drained it out. So, I heated them up, me and my elderly mom put in a tortilla wrap. Added some other stuff inside. Halfway thru, I am tasting sourness. I tasted beans on their own and tasted weird. I threw out the rest if it. Mom continued to eat hers.Thought it was me, but after reading all reviews, it's not.The can has an expiration date of 2023. Did not realize new recipe or whatever was in play. Yuck@

Every time I have bought this in the last year it has tasted “off“ it has an almost plasticy oily taste to it and overpowers anything you put it on. It stays in your mouth for hours. I thought That maybe the store just got bad shipments, but I guess the company changed recipes. Let Gordon Ramsey taste this and critique, because these beans are not edible anymore. Please change it back, or at least take the loss and formulate something better...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old El Paso refried beans taste most like traditional refried beans. I like the consistency. There was nothing I didn’t like. I use the beans mixed in with my ground beef taco filling and they are delicious.

The consistency I think is what I had a difficult time with but that is my own personal hang up. The flavors are all there.

My kids and I used to love these beans. We made them every Taco Tuesday and also used them to make bean burritos, tostadas and so much more. The new recipe is inedible. Please switch back to the old recipe. In the meantime we won't be buying anymore.
