Terrible freezer - don't buy
Had a little over a year - freezer died while we were out of town - major mess and at least $500 lost in frozen meat and foods. Will not purchase this brand ever again. Very poor quality - you get what you pay for and this is one cheap piece of junk.

Not worth it
This freezer is not worth spending your money on. I originally got it because I wanted something small and this sounded perfect but after a couple weeks it started frosting up big time. It did freeze my food properly but after about a year and a half it just completely quit working. All my food went to waste! Don't waste your money on this one please.

UnhappyCustomer
This is NOT a Frost free freezer. I didn’t even know they made this kind anymore. You have to get way into the online notes to see where it says “manual defrost for convenience”. What’s convenient about trying to defrost a freezer this big? When my husband and daughter have to pick it up and put it in the shower because if you try to just open the door to let it defrost the water goes everywhere it’s just a nightmare
Hello not happy, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Thomson Upright Freezer. Upright freezer
I have the same problem as others. I had this unit about a year and it stopped working. Lost all the frozen foods. Need a better warranty before I would consider getting another one. The size was ideal but that is the only positive thing I can say about it.

Lasted 13 months & 14 days!!
We purchased this brand & size freezer on 08-09-2021, Luckily With the 3 year Extended Warranty!!, & on 09-23-2022 the freezer quit working. Today (09-24-2022) I spoke with a CS rep @ Sams whom advised us to contact Allstate regarding the extended warranty. After speaking with a Rep with Allstate, we are getting a full refund on the freezer. We don’t plan to purchase this brand in the future!’

Frost City
I have had this freezer for 1 week and the frost is completely taking over the freezer working its way from the top to the bottom. I have had their compact fridge/freezer in my garage for 3 years and not one issue with it and it has worked like a champ. I called to talk to support this morning and they offered absolutely no assistance and just told me to return it where I got it. The seal is tight and no cold air coming out and I've opened it only twice in the week time frame as I was on vacation. I have to find an alternative for all of the frozen food I have in there, defrost it and dry it out before I return it which will take hours. Not the best technical support I've ever dealt with.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, sides, bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.
Do not buy
I purchased this deep freezer December 9 of 2020 for $252. I realize today, October 10, 2022 that it is no longer working. There was always ice buildup not only on the top, but on every shelf of the freezer. Other than that it worked fine until it didn’t.

So Far So Good
Recently purchased this upright freezer. Delivered quickly! It originally was to be delivered within 3 weeks, then they said it was ready to be delivered within 3 days. Cool. But the snow delayed it. Arrived without dents!!! Well packed with plenty of foam packing. It is not heavy at all. I was able to move it around easily without assistance. It got cold really fast. Not noisy at all. So far so good! Wish it had baskets.
3.5 years and 3 moves - STILL LOVE IT
The ONLY issue I have is that the shelves aren't adjustable. You just have to play around and make things fit. I downsized from an 18 cubic foot frigidaire that I LOVED because I am an empty nester with a smaller house now. This gives me just the right amount of freezer storage without taking up a crazy amount of space in the house
Hi Upright Freezer, we are glad to hear you are enjoying your Thomson Upright Freezer. BTW the reason the shelves are not adjustable is because the evaporator coils are affixed to the underside of the shelves for cooling efficiency.
Worked for two years then would not freeze.
I bought this in Nov 2020 and brought it home hoping for great things. It worked fine for a year then I noticed I had to keep increasing the temperature control towards 3 the coldest setting. I opened by freezer to find everything thawed out on 1-6-23. Lost over $300 of food. Knowing this I would not recommend you purchase this freezer as it will not last and your overall cost of the freezer and loss of food would allow you to buy a bigger better freezer than this one.
