Purchased this freezer from Sam's and some help me take it to my basement. Waited for the oil to settle in the compressor before plugging it into the AC. After the temperature reached 22 degrees we filled the freezer with solid frozen products. The next the morning i opened the freezer and found the products getting moist and soft. When I checked the temperature in was in the high 30s. I called Curtis International for some service and was told I would be emailed a questionnaire to fill out and after review by the warranty department someone would contact me within 72 hours. Curtis International is located in Canada and has on service facility or people in the states. So maybe within the 72 hours they could have granted me the right to return this defective freezer. Can you imagine what my frozen meat would have looked like after setting in the warm freezer for up to 72 hours. I had my friend help lug the freezer out of my basement and returned it to Sam's, who gladly refunded my money. I hope you are reading these reviews before you make this purchase. I made my mistake after I made this blunder.

I will Never buy another product from Thompson or Curtis Int'l Ltd.! Product was not as described, manual was misleading (for wrong product), customer "service" was some of the worst i have ever had, i was refused help i asked for, had to get info i needed from Sam's Club not Thompson. NO MORE THOMPSON/CIL PRODUCTS!!!

Purchased at my local club today. Took it home. Down the basement stairs and unboxed. WOW! The door fell in my lap. I thought "what the heck?". I tried for over an hour to affix the door to the freezer. Impossible!! The manufacturer sure does not have the right specs for this freezer to be assembled for use. The sleeve mentioned in teh manual simply is not of correct size to affix the door to the body of the freezer. Unhappy I was. Boxed back up. Back up the basement stairs. Back outside and up into truck. Back to my local club the same day. The freezer is very lightweight and appears to be made very cheap. Definitely not my kind of appliance. My local club was very understanding in granting me a full refund on the spot. I am still happy with Sam's and glad to be a Plus Member. Manufacturer is at fault. I cannot recommend this freezer for purchase.

I have the same problem as others. I had this unit about a year and it stopped working. Lost all the frozen foods. Need a better warranty before I would consider getting another one. The size was ideal but that is the only positive thing I can say about it.

We had this freezer LESS than a month when we lost a couple hundred dollars worth of meat! I noticed a water puddle one morning in front of our freezer. When I opened it, every thing was thawed and the freezer was not on! It did NOT come with an owner's manual so I had to look for it online. It said that if the power is out for less than 3 minutes, the freezer may not restart! We had a power outage 3 days before that only lasted a couple of seconds and the freezer did not restart! We did not know about this flaw in the design and had a freezer load of meat thaw on us! We had a bad stormy season this spring and the freezer has not restarted on us TWICE more in the last couple of months! At least we know now to check. NOT HAPPY!

i bought this about 2 years ago and defrosted it last summer and two weeks ago went to get something out and it had stopped working and all items in it were no longer frozen. We lost all items which included bags of chicken wings, a turkey, lots of frozen veggies, ice cream, frozen meals. we had it in our garage and have a generator so wasn't due to loss of power. would not buy again

I just lost a freezer full of food. This is so hurtful and disappointing. At first the top 2 shelves went out. I followed all instructions.Then it kept frosting up inside. Now it has stopped working entirely, less than a year after purchase. I love the size, but not losing a freezer full of food and the purchase cost. Something is terribly wrong with this product. I was expecting it to last many years. I told my family my freezer had gone out, they responded, didn't you just buy it earlier this year? I am so disappointed and upset. And embarrassed that I have to purchase another freezer so soon.

I loved sam's all the way up until Sep 19,2019, when my freezer arrived to my home, it came well packed but once i opened the box, my freezer looked like it was thrown around, it has lots of dents and all the plastic trimming above the front door was badly damaged and on the rear bottom of the freezer was also damaged badly, i did not return the freezer because it is just too much for me to handle because of my back surgery that i had at the time, that will be the very last time i ever order anything online with Sam's

Like many others the top all broken including screw to hold it down. Door seal is totally messed up which makes it ice up like crazy - first 2 shelves were literally one big snow-ice ball within less than a month. Calling customer service means hours of your life wasted and getting disconnected constantly. Not worth it. Oh and now Sam's wont let me upload pics either. Useless all around.

I bought this due to a smaller living space. I thought it would be bigger on the inside. It was so much smaller than I expected. I was disappointed that the shelves are not movable to accommodate larger items. Mine began an excessive frost build up on the top freezer element after just 2 weeks. I did not go into it but about twice a week. Also condensation was on the top portion of the door on the inside door panel. I returned this as there is a 90 day return policy. The return was hassle free.
