We opened it upon receipt. There was a large dent in the back of the freezer. The box was not damaged. So it was obviously packed and shipped this way. Very disappointed. It works well, just disappointed that you would ship a damaged item to a customer.

Our family has been in quarantine since March, son high risk, husband called to go to work for one day for an emergency, took advantage to run errands and finally found a freezer (bought one still on backorder since April with another store). Brought home the Thompson then my husband ran to stores stocking up on son's restricted diet foods including over $100 in salmon, one of the few meats our son can eat. Husband went into quarantine to protect our son and just came out today to find that all his running around was for nothing. Went to the freezer this morning inside our our house in the laundry room, the floor was wet, everything thawed and warm, all the food ruined. Just know this, not a typical freezer. The shelves are wired, what freezes, not the whole unit as in typical freezers, Thompson is wired inside from the top shelf down to each shelf so that's what reviews mean by shelves giving out. Evidently all mine did, all at once. Thompson, you must have skipped quality control to get these out fast. It was half the price of the same size we had on order at another place but now we see why. The money we saved buying this one was lost with the hundreds in food ruined two weeks after buying this freezer. Some got good ones that had more care seemingly with wiring, ours did not. It's a game of chance with this freezer. Just wanted to add, it runs very warm on the outside so make a habit of feeling it when walking past. When that stops, your freezing isn't working anymore. Before I found the hot mess this morning, while doing laundry my husband made a comment that the freezer wasn't running hot anymore. Now we know why.

We had this freezer for a year with it working fine. Although we were religious in taking care of it by defrosting and cleaning it, at 13 months it just quit working and we were not able to get it started again. Not an expensive freezer, but should last more than a year. I see from the reviews that this has happened to a few other buyers.

This is NOT a Frost free freezer. I didn’t even know they made this kind anymore. You have to get way into the online notes to see where it says “manual defrost for convenience”. What’s convenient about trying to defrost a freezer this big? When my husband and daughter have to pick it up and put it in the shower because if you try to just open the door to let it defrost the water goes everywhere it’s just a nightmare

We bought this little freezer yesterday. The box was a little damaged on the top but fine everywhere else. Apon opening the box, realized the entire bottom was dented in, had no freon at all. Even the little pipes where the freon runs though are all busted up. This clearly happened at the factory before it was even boxed up and shipped. Terrible quality control. This is going right beck to Sam's club!

I bought this freezer 2, 5 years ago from Sam's Club Beaumont, TX. It stop working which we did not noticed! All things is inside spoiled ! We trashed $1000 items ! And WATER damaged our floor which will cost $10000 to repair! If I call my home insurance , my home insurance will go up too! Never buy THOMSON!!!

We purchased this freezer in March 2020 and it worked fine until we defrosted it in November per the manufacturers manual. When we plugged it back in and turned it on it started working but only the bottom racks got cold. Then after a day it just stopped working all together. We tried to contact Curtis INT (manufacturer) as per their site for warranty assistance and they only offer email support. Still haven't heard back from them and its been 5 days. Our appliance service guy stated it is not worth him coming out and charging us a service call and repair to fix it. He stated these units aren't really worth repairing and most usually end up in the dump. So I would suggest always getting the extended warranty when thinking about buying one of these Thomson products.

The door doesn’t seal very well so there’s a LOT of frost build up. Constantly having to knock it off the top of the frame or the seal gets worse. Has worked for over a year - in the garage in Texas. I don’t think I’d buy this brand again though. Next time I’m going the quality route rather than the cheap route. Guess it’s true that you get what you pay for.
